Tomorrow is the last day to get rewards card (any order gets them I think)
and you can start using them April 1-30. They have at least $10 on them and some have $500 3/31/2012 8:32:19 AM |

I got $30 in Old Navy supercash, and it is valid 4-9 to 4-17 in store only and you can use it on any purchase over $60. I will not be using this, PM me if you want it and I will mail it to you. 3/31/2012 9:29:00 AM |

I've gotten in to curling my hair lately......
what're the pros and cons of curlers versus a curling iron? Besides the fact that I'd feel like a gramma if I used curlers.... 3/31/2012 11:42:28 AM |

I will post again in here if I decide to not use them. 3/31/2012 12:10:55 PM |

curlers set the curl in better than a curling iron
and they will give you lift from the root if you want volume
I have both, but use my curling iron the most because I'm usually short on time 3/31/2012 12:15:36 PM |

^Curlers will keep hair curlier longer. So depending on what you're going for (curly versus wavy) would probably tell you most.
Also straighteners can set some nice curls if you don't have a curling iron, but that takes a little bit of practice
I'm having this dress made at Lee's Tailor for my sister's wedding coming up. I'm so excited I've never been to the tailor before or had something fitted to me

Are you doing same colors? Can you post pics upon completion? How much do you think it will be after all is said and done? I wonder if my Mombo could make that... 3/31/2012 2:12:53 PM |

^ I'm sure its not a terribly difficult dress to make. But I don't know enough about sewing find a non-professional person to do it.
My sister bought some seersucker fabric in blue and white instead of red and white in that picture. She also bought some maroon fabric which she wanted to incorporate somehow. So I gave the pattern that I bought and the fabric to the tailor and they measured me yesterday.
I asked the tailor if they could do maroon piping like they do the red piping in the picture. I hope it doesn't turn out ugly.
Tailor said it would cost around $200. Which is probably the same you would pay for a bridesmaids dress anywhere else. The folks at Lee's Tailor were really nice.
It's casual enough that I think I could wear it regularly if it turns out great
I will post pics when it's done in a week or so 3/31/2012 2:47:19 PM |

I know.
I would have said a maroon sash so then I could remove it after the wedding, but the sash for this dress is attached at all times.

I spent a crap ton of money today on makeup, never bought it before but I figured I needed some for my engagement pictures and the wedding and other events and such. I now need two things, and would love some input from the tdub ladies.
1. MakeUp Case, something to keep it in at home, but I can also toss it in a carry on or something. 2. MakeUp Remover, has to be super simple, I have some serious allergy stuff going on right now. Mom got me these:
and my face burned like crazy when I used one.

Go to Kroger - they have a whole aisle in their specialty organic allergy area for all natural beauty products. You should be able to find something there that works well.
I went kind of crazy today in The Limited. They had a sale - all full priced items were 40% off. I got 2 dresses, a skirt, a sheer top, a cardigan, and a tank for $250. Originally everything would have set me back to about $400. And then I also bought a pair of nude wedges to wear with all my new clothes at Dillards for $50. 4/1/2012 12:12:35 AM |

My plan is to eventually switch to Lush fully. I just have to wait until I am done with the stuff I have now. But I've read a lot of reviews and Lush's stuff works well from what I have read. 4/1/2012 12:29:52 AM |

there is nothing I do not like. They have a lip scrub that you can lick off (i know it sounds weird) but they let me sample it, which is one of the reasons I love that store. They will walk around and sample everything with you and give you free shit, and they don't give you the sigh and eye roll if you don't buy it. Usually sampling gets too awkward for me after the first one, but there is usually an overly excited employee who will use a scrub on her face insisting you try before you buy stuff.
But if you start with anything I highly recommend the shampoo and moisturizers the most.

Well, the only thing I need right now is a good facial cleanser. All the reviews I read said they tested on their hands, but my face is much more sensitive. Would they let me sample on my face? Also, what's their policy on returns? If I use it and have a reaction could I get my money back? 4/1/2012 12:35:28 AM |
Klatypus All American 6786 Posts user info edit post |
yea, you can sample anything in store and they have a sink plus towels to wash your face. Depending on the employee they might do it as well, half of them dont seem to wear makeup half of the time and just go around using all the products.
I am not sure about the return policy, I imagine they let people sample so much because the product is hand made and might be hard to resell.... hmm

I don't see why they wouldn't let you try on your face. They probably do the hand because it's easier and some people get weird about others touching their face. I would also think if you told the sales person about sensitivities, then it shouldn't be a problem to return if you react 4/1/2012 12:37:53 AM |

Since we are on the subject of face, are you guys on any anti-aging regimens yet? I am in my early 30s. I am not sagging yet and I dont have any visible wrinkles, but would like to start soon as a preventative measure. But i have done what I can on my part. I don't smoke, rarely drink much anmore, I don't tan, and I eat clean 90 of the time.
I just don't like the idea of throwing alot fo chemicals on my face ( that's makeup included). 4/1/2012 12:47:04 AM |

ew, i am not a lush fan. i bought the "ultralight" moisturizer a couple years ago and the first ingredient was peanut oil, which made my skin have a predictable reaction... i've tried a few other products and came to the same conclusion about each one. they're gross and spoil quickly and aren't worth the hype, imo. 4/1/2012 3:42:32 PM |

I have some of the honey chapstick stuff in the pot...it reminds me of cocoa butter
I also have some of the hand and body lotion that I keep at my desk. I like the feeling of it, but I hate the scent. I wish it was scentfree, but oh well.
I have 2 of the bath bombs that I haven't used yet...maybe I'll take a soak tonight since I know I'm gonna be sore. 4/1/2012 3:47:46 PM |

Well, I hit walmart first, because i have dropped a lot of munnies on makeup. I switched out my aveeno moisturizer for their sensitive skin redness soothing one and grabbed a neutrogena naturals cleanser and makeup remover.
Also got a cute jersey feeling black skirt from old navy to wear with my nerd shirt for the photo shoot, and willemjoel's wifey offered to do my hair for free that morning! :squeeeee: 4/1/2012 4:20:29 PM |

Wooo! No reaction to the Neutrogena Naturals makeup remover! And I LOVE the scent. The moisturizer from Aveeno is great as well.
My favorite Product in the world right now is this:
I have really sensitive, dry lips and this stuff is awesome! There are very few lip products I can use anymore. I used to be addicted to Chapstick medicated, but it started burning my lips, I tried all the burt's bees, but only the ultra conditioning hypoallergenic worked. On a whim I grabbed the Maybelline Baby Lips, one in unflavored and one in some pink berry something. The unflavored one is magical. If you see me out you should totally kiss me. My lips are so super soft. 4/1/2012 10:37:58 PM |
