Sitting here twiddling my thumbs until 3. This annoys me. I could have totally be home by now, but NOOOOOO! The EC teacher had to fuck up all her IEP meetings so she is having to redo them now. I didn't take a lunch so I could leave no later than 3. If I could haven't gotten the principal to sign off of my room earlier I would've been gone long ago, but she had to be in the IEP meeting with the fuck up EC teacher. GROWL! 6/9/2015 2:23:18 PM |

I'm about to send an invite for a party I'm throwing...but I don't know anybody well enough to ask them for thoughts on my invite e-mail. (Or I could, but it would be kind of awkward.) So, do you think this reads ok, random TWW user?
Just want to make doubly sure before I send something ridiculous (which I've done before.)
Dear all,
Okay, so I'll be throwing a party on Saturday, June 20 to celebrate me finishing all the math for my thesis-problem. (I still have to convert the damned thing into a publishable form, but the grueling, draining, creative part is now complete.)
Please come. The party will start at 6:30. Please BYOB (though I'll have a communally available 12-pack or something in the fridge for those who are just looking to have one or two.)
Please feel free to bring a dish - but equally, please feel free to NOT bring a dish. I'll be supplying two or three main dishes, so if everybody brings something in addition to those, we'll just have this enormous abundance of food that won't fit on the table. So seriously, either way is fine.
Dinner will be eaten at some point, and maybe some board games will be played. Just bring yourself.
Significant others are welcome, of course. Significant others whom I know (e.g. Bailey and Rosie) are explicitly invited.
My apartment is at 491 West St. Apt F. You can park on North St. or West St., but I think they'll tow you if you park in the lot immediately outside my door.
Kim is not in town (I don't think), but is listed among the invitees as a gesture of affection and esteem.
Hope to see you there!

^ actually, I threw a party on 3-14 several years ago, and it wasn't a great success (partly because b/c 3-14 was the first day of Spring Break.) but also, I think a Pi Day keg party was a bit too nerdy even for math people. 6/15/2015 12:40:33 PM |

It decided to drop 300 points over 2 hours (200 in the first hour) so I'm almost back to not feeling dead! There is, however, the negative side effect of staying up until the insulin finishes working so you don't black out and die from hypoglycemia. 6/16/2015 1:26:17 AM |

have you completed your course evaluations yet? i had a shitty prof in grad school do this. bought us all shots/beers and then after everyone was drunk, she asked us to do her evals. i still wrote her a bad one though 6/17/2015 8:42:25 PM |

I don't know if the old dude at the gym today was just being really nice or hitting on me
We had talked once awhile back and he just seemed nice but today was a little odd. He told me that he could tell my muscles were starting to show (No biggie there) then he said not to no get any bigger that I was just right. I said I'd like to lose a little stomach fat and he says no I don't need to do anything. A little weird but not too bad. Then he comes up later to talk about golf and how he was pulling for a certain player. He said "I pulled for him to win just like I pull for you to win." Then he told me I could be a "star" as he walked off. That's the point where I got a little

I HATE it when my boyfriend asks if he can do something with his friends when we had plans. I mean of course I'm going to say that he can go hang out with him. I'm not going to be the asshole girlfriend that won't let him hang out with his friends. It just sucks being put in the position to pretend like I'm ok with it when I'm not. I mean obviously I wanted to spend time with you, that's why we had the plans.

Yeah, you're right. I'm gonna let him know that it's not cool, and he's gotta stick to his plans. It's ridiculous that he thinks it's suitable to cancel on me when he could go play basketball with them tomorrow night.
It's not right that I keep getting the shitty end of the stick because his friends ask him last minute to do things. If he wants to hang out with his friends he should either let them know that he has already made plans and he will be free several other nights this week, or make plans in advance with them, just like I've been making with him.

If this is something that's happening now I don't think you should change your mind and confront him this time. I think going forward that you should definitely be a little more assertive when you've had prior plans, but you've been enabling this behavior up until now so you can't drop this all on him. Don't make a big issue out of it or it's likely to blow up in your faces.
Should he be more considerate about sticking to your plans? Most definitely. Have you helped contribute to his behavior? Also, most definitely.
If he cares for you at all he'll understand next time you take a stand and let him know it's not cool. 6/22/2015 4:16:06 PM |

We just talked and I helped him make the choice to not cancel his plans on me tonight. This situation has really been the only issue we've had. We've been dating for a year now and it's been a very great relationship, aside from that. He's told me that he will be asking me to marry him within the next year.
When he comes over tonight we're going to sit down and talk about it. I think that as long as I use "I" statements and let him know how it makes me feel when he cancels on me and the position that I feel like I'm being put in when he asks for permission to cancel on me.
I do really appreciate it that he DOES ask me permission to cancel on me, because he at least is making an effort to show that he cares about my feelings. I also do totally understand that things do come up. His dad was just diagnosed with cancer and he has had to cancel on me before to help his dad out, and I would never in a million years be upset with him for doing that.
It's the canceling plans with me to go do stupid things with his friends that they asked him about last minute (I think a lot of that is the fact that he is the only one in his immediate group of friends in a serious relationship). Basically I would prefer if he would just respond to his friends with "Sorry, I already have plans tonight, but I'm free tomorrow (or whenever) so hit me up then if you want to do something" and then not mention it to me, or tell me that he told them no. That way, when something does come up, that he really does want to do, or with someone that he hasn't seen in a while, or something awesome, I will nave no issue with him canceling on me.
It also probably wouldn't bother me as much if I asked him last minute to do something with me and he would cancel his already plans for me.
This isn't a very regular occurrence, but it happens just enough to be an issue, and I feel like this is something that we need to get a hold of before it becomes a bigger issue that could have a bigger impact.

I forgot how ridiculous airport drinking is. Dude served me three doubles in under fifteen minutes and was still all, "How bout another for the little lady?"
Now I'm drunk in the designated smoking area with 14 Eastern European men--I quietly counted once they came up as a group.
I'm supposed to be drunk in Atlanta waiting on a flight...but I'm still in Raleigh, and it's gonna take at least an hour before I can rebrave security.
