^that's the thing, he's a senior, so he'd essentially be a one-and-done, and next season isn't when we'll really need frontcourt depth, it's the following season. i think it'd be better to get another big in this class (jefferson or young) that could learn the system next season, and be ready to be a solid contirbutor in 2013-2014 when we lose howell and painter. if we don't, we're gonna need a total stud big-man in 2013-2014 that can come in and contribute from day one.

that's not to say that I wouldn't want him on the team next year if we miss out on jefferson, young, etc. (or if we also lose leslie and can pick-pick up two big men)

notice him talk about State, he made a point to remind the interviewer. Looks like he really wants to come here but he's torn by Duke's offer

He's listed as a PF/C but played mostly 4 with Drummond at 5. As I said before his game is basically the exact same as Howell. Dick is a better jump shooter and AO is more athletic.

Amile clearly wants to go to Duke in that interview.

Our coaches can reason with his family about the educational value of State. He can get an electrical engineering degree and be just fine

I think he wants the fun option of NC State basketball, but his parents want the responsible option of Duke academics.

He referred to Coach K as the "the greatest ever." I just don't see this working in our favor. We should move on.

^^what exactly do you mean "we should move on". i really don't have anything invested in it, so i'll continue to hope he chooses state.

his game might be the same, but he has a good 4-5 inches on howell.

if howell was actually 6'8 he would be a great center.

He doesn't have 4-5 inches on Lorenzo Brown. Where are you getting these numbers?

Personally I'd be pumped as shit to get Andrew Young, and amile would be gravy.

4-5"? Huh? AO is listed at 6'9" 240; Howell at 6'8" 250.

i would venture to say that if we land Young, Jefferson does not come to State. and possibly vice-versa.

Unless CJL or someone else leaves prematurely, only one can come to State.

Richard Alex, I hate to keep coming back to you, but what is it about 'center' that players don't like?

The staff has been recruiting like there's going to be some attrition, we had 4 commitments at one point and were still heavily in the mix with some post players.

Once again this all seems to be speculations but here is an update on Oriakhi from ESPN insider's "rumors" blog:

Quote :
"UPDATE: According to this tweet by Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com on Tuesday, Alex Oriakhi's list of suitors includes Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Florida, Temple, Xavier, UCLA, Missouri, George Mason, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Charlotte.

Later, though, Goodman tweeted that Missouri and the SEC schools likely can't take Oriakhi "due to league rule that prohibits one-year transfers.""

No idea where we stand on the list, but they are treating these names as fact that they have reached out towards the kid. There is no mention if he has reciprocated.

Howell is 6'5"? So what does that make Lo Brown? 6'1"?

There is no way in hell that 6'9" Oriakhi is 4 or 5 inches taller than Howell.

^ Jordan Green. He used to be in Carmichael playing basketball all the time. I think he graduated in 2005 or something.
