No, the referee keeps the time. The only real clock is on his wrist. The game ends when the referee blows his whistle three times. 6/22/2006 12:00:38 PM |

My thoughts exactly. I watch these games and definitely want the US to win and am pissed off if they lose, but there's no way we deserved to win any of these games. Yes, that was a horrible PK call in the 1st half, but we wouldn't have done anything about it anyways. Ghana deserved to go through; they battled Italy, owned the Czechs, and capitalized on our mistakes. We sucked, played ok, and sucked again. Aside from the Dempsey goal and a couple of Keller saves against Italy, we didn't do a single thing good the entire World Cup and that is really disappointing. Nobody expected a World Cup trophy, we just wanted some kind of effort.
I already didn't like Donovan, but this World Cup has solidified my opinion of him... he's garbage.

^^Yeah and it was the NY Red Bulls who made the offer, forgot how much money though.. and yea Beckham has showed interest, but it will be when both of these players are well past their prime(if they arent already) and when their teams in Europe dont want them anymore.. will bring in alot of money though

I believe that honor is still held by Steve Sampson. And the Costa Ricans agree with Americans on that one.
What a terrible World Cup for the United States.
Saw the penalty, it could have been called either way. Considering the referee was German, a country that, since they're host, made sure they sent their best, it's hard to make the argument made after the Italy game. One of the few fallacies in Onyewu's game is that he sometimes makes dumb fouls that put his team in a precarious position. Well, he sure did this time. He's a good player though, and he'll be better in four years.
Trinidad & Tobago matched our performance. And CONCACAF's performance in the group stage is 1-8-3 with the only win being Mexico over Iran.6/22/2006 2:15:04 PM |

Flyin Ryan... why are you so quick to defend the horrible officiating in this World Cup? And I'm not just talking about the US game. All across the board, officiating has been bad.
Called either way? You are probably one of the few people to think that, it was obviously a dive... and even if somehow there was a foul involved, it certainly wasn't enough to justify a game changing penalty kick in a group deciding game in the World Cup. 6/22/2006 3:05:30 PM |

^^ Cause I've watched most of the games the USA played in the last two years, and not in one single game did USA fans not b**** about the refs.
If McBride had done what the Ghanaian player did, I'd've been perfectly fine if a penalty was called, as would you.
I created a ref-bashing thread a few nights ago when watching the Stanley Cup finals. Go post about the refs in there. http://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=415911&page=1#8927798
