I've never used an SD card in my PS3 so I can't comment on that. However, if you can't view pictures over the network, you're probably not under the right menu listing. The XMB has 3 media menus, one each for photos, music, and movies. To view photos, you have to be under the photo menu. Same with music and video. I know, it's silly, since its all connecting to the same server or media storage, but it's just the way it works. I guess it's just a way to filter out the type of media you want to view if you just have everything dumped into one folder.

For the record I've had my 360 since launch with no problems. Just sayin..

Dude, I kinda like the Sixxaxis controller. Yeah, I wish it had rumble but it seems to hold a charge well, love that it charges with a USB cable. Feels good too. Although, I may wait to buy my 2nd controller to get a dual shock 3. I want the rumbleness back.

What I wanna know is, when do you think PSN will add 'blades' or overlays so when you are in game, you can access all the other stuff wo/ having to back out completely? Separate friends lists per game seem crazy. I know Home will change this but im curious if you have to go through all that. So much is still up in the air.

BTW, those gradius screens on the last page look fan-fucking-tastic. Auto purchase.

^^The next firmware supposedly will let you access a XMB-redux from within games. Access to buddy list/music/things of that nature.

That's a huge problem with their system so far, the buddy list is more or less useless. You can't chat with (or invite someone to play another game) unless they are sitting there just idling in the XMB. Not smart.

Re: media server. It took me a little tinkering but I've got it set up pretty nicely now. It'll play almost everything I throw at it. I use Nero MediaHome to stream the videos, it re-encodes to PS3-friendly format on the fly. Sometimes I get synchronization issues, but for the most part it's decent (for the time being, at least).

^and you, how many times are you going to come in here and test drive your joke about the $600 beta. People ignored it because it wasn't funny, or even creative. The PS3 has had a LOT less problems than that other box. I'd say if anyone got swindled into beta testing hardware, it's 360 owners. Shit, just today they issued a recall on the racing wheel because it is catching on fire. Ridiculous. You lose.

I'm glad microsoft paid $1B to keep us fanboys happy. I sent out my xbox on day 1 and got it replaced and back at my doorstep by day 7. They even sent me a box, a perfectly cut piece of tape to re-seal the box and a shipping label, and packing materials so i don't have to spend a cent on the service.

got a new reciever when my old one was stolen by movers back in 2002 and it's still solid
dvd player? before my PS3 i was using the same one from 1999
hell, even my TI-85 survived 4 years of undergrad and 2 years of grad school over a decade

but whatever helps you sleep at night...i'm sure the status quo in electronics is a 1-in-3 failure rate

I still think it's completely retarded for PS3 owners to go "LOL XBOX 360 FAILURE RATES ARE SO HIGH" when the predecessor to your console was notorious for having optical drives die.

Microsoft admitted the problem and it's been fixed for the future and repairs are free. It's like a week or two long inconvenience at worst. I realize though that PS3 owners wouldn't want to be without their consoles for even a week, as not being able to play Motorstorm 24/7 is the #1 cause for nerd suicide in America.

Look at what has happened to this thread. honestly, it makes me pretty upset. I guess I can say that SandSanta, Stein, and the rest have been successful and ruining this for people, or at least for me. It was nice to have a thread where people that are genuinely interested in something could talk about it, relate, and just enjoy themselves. But I guess some people have to get in the way of that.

Its always blown my mind that people actually want to get in the way of other people's joy. I can't imagine ever wanting to make anyone feel bad just for the hell of it, much less without even knowing who they are. I can't imagine ever wanting to just shit on someone just because I disagree with them, and constantly insult in any way possible. Does it honestly make you happy to make other people that you don't know unhappy?

Anyway, thanks to the mature guys that posted stuff relevant to this thread and had some maturity to them. It was pretty fun before these people had to ruin it for all of us because they disagree with us.

Edge Magazine gave it an 8. You know what else they gave an 8 in that issue? Bioshock. Edge is well known for rating ~2 points lower than the average gaming publication (they gave GoW2 a 7 for example), and the fact that they rated it the same as Bioshock is very high praise indeed.

Of course they have their preferences, these are people reviewing these games, not machines. But on average, they tend to review significantly lower than most outlets.

Also, there was nothing wrong with Halo except for the fact that was released on a console. Sure, it sucks nuts compares to most PC FPS's, and by the time it was released on the PC, the graphics and gameplay mechanics were antiquated. But as far as standing alone as a console FPS, there really hasn't been anything better.
