Have not heard back from the job that called me on Friday regarding my resume. Just left them a 2nd message.
Have not heard back from my phone interview from last week. They did say mid-week this week, so if I haven't heard from them by tomorrow at 3 I will give them a call.

it's so frustrating interviewing for positions and then never hearing anything back - even after following up and checking in.

It's so frustrating. The last couple of interviews I had they told me they would make their decision in a couple of weeks. I didn't hear anything then. So, I had to contact them and they did get back to me.7/21/2010 9:53:25 PM |

Recently, I applied for a temp-to-perm job. After a week, I didn't hear back from the recruiter. They had listed their number along with the job description. I called them to follow-up on my submission. The person I spoke with said that the client may have specific needs that we don't include in the job description and I may not fit those needs. Then she went on to say that they got 300 resumes for that position. They can only review the first 200 and I was #202 and couldn't be reviewed. WTF? That pissed me off so much 7/21/2010 10:32:11 PM |

I just left a meeting that made me feel better about my job prospects than I have since I moved here. Good feeling. Not too much longer now, I feel it!
And just observing the job market, those of you in the finance/accounting field should take heart. The market is DEFINITELY on the way up. A lot more jobs, albeit not ones that I'm interested in largely, are starting to open up and a lot of companies seem to be lifting their hiring freeze.
It's getting better, at the very least... 7/22/2010 10:41:37 AM |

Most bars have shifts around 6pm-10pm and 10pm-2am (plus additional hour for closing, so you wouldn't get out till ~3:30 am). Just an idea because if any of them are hiring they would work with your schedule.

I've never met a bartender that went to bartending school.
But good luck finding a bartending job anyways. You'll have a better shot at getting a barback job. And you can make decent money there if it's a busy bar. Waiting tables will be your best bet, but those shifts usually start around 4/4:30.7/22/2010 1:12:42 PM |

congrats! I'm waiting to hear back on my phone interview from Monday, I'm estimating either tomorrow or early next week. I hope. Had another phone interview today but not too keen on the company in general, but we'll see what happens. They won't get back for a few weeks apparently.

For all those collecting unemployment like me...I just got ANOTHER letter in the mail asking me to report with my work search history records. The first time I received it was the beginning of July and I had to report July 8th. I did, they were slammed, I stood in line for an hour, left my work search history as requested and were told they would "key it in," and to keep filing for weekly certification. Now I'm getting it AGAIN.
So what's the effin' deal?? Did they lose it (probably) and am I going to be in trouble for "not reporting the first time"? Do they want to sit down and talk to me this time (like I expected last time)?
I'm frustrated cause at this point this is ANOTHER day I have to take off from my temp job, put them in a bind in finding a replacement sitter, and ever more standing in line/waiting.
I'm going to call tomorrow (after my interview) to see what the deal is. But this is ridiculous. 7/27/2010 5:46:11 PM |

I don't fully follow your question. If you're asking, "can you file online?" yes you can. Every week I file online. If you're asking, "can you search for jobs on their site?" yes you can...but I use Career Builder, Monster and Craigslist for my job search. If you're asking about my particular letter which requests my mind & body to be in their office on X date at X time, no you can't do that online. This is them wanting to look at my proof of continued job search while I collect. Which, again, I did 3 weeks ago once already.7/27/2010 10:11:18 PM |

Question:
I got a call from a guy I used to work with who was paid as a 1099 subcontractor. He said he was denied unemployment benefits because he hadn't been on payroll for a certain amount of time, which was a requirement of collecting unemployment. It sounds like since he was paid as a 1099 sub and not an employee, the Employment Security Commision didn't consider his 1099 wages as 'base period wages' when assessing his unemployment claim.
Does anybody know anyone in the same boat? Is he screwed because he wasn't on payroll, or can he still be eligible? 8/2/2010 6:03:05 PM |
