I'm a plebe, I definitely only have a nice tulip glass and some pint glasses.
Honestly not sure what else I need. I mean, I also have what I think is a Hefeweizen glass... not sure, it's tall and slender and opens more at the top. 4/5/2011 9:53:18 PM |

neh not at all. a good snifter or tulip is crucial for a big/special/tasty beer. But for your basic porter or pale I just grab one of the many pint glasses sitting on my shelf.4/6/2011 8:32:53 AM |

Today's LivingSocial Deal:
http://livingsocial.com/deals/33258-beginner-s-homebrewing-class
Quote : | "What happens when you cross Samuel Adams with Mr. Schue? No, it's not a glee-filled singing and dancing American revolutionary obsessed with getting to regionals; it's a hip beer teacher. Today's deal from American Brewmaster proves that Mr. Schadams exists: For $12 (regularly $25) score one Beginner's Homebrewing Class. Serving the Triangle since 1983, these ale aficionados will teach you about the many styles of beer, the fermentation process and how beer is made, and the history of brewing. You'll learn that creating your own barley pop is not only simple and fun, but also delicious. Grab a crew of your friends and brew it up together in this classroom, but hurry before it's last call on these savings." | ]4/6/2011 8:37:06 AM |

The Sam Adams perfect pint glass is amazing, and they sell them at Total Wine...you won't regret purchasing one. Also the DFH signature glass is pretty rockin.
Anybody else going to the Busy Bee's anniversary thing tonight? There's a ton of good stuff on tap: Foothills 1 year aged Pappy Van Winkle People's Porter, Ballast Point Piper Down, Allagash Bourbon Barrel Aged Black, Left Hand Wake Up Dead, Mother Earth Silent Night, Foothills Bourbon Barrel Aged Seeing Double IPA, and Great Divide 17th Anniversary Oak Aged Double IPA

I went to "Glass Night" at Rockfish in Durham and had a couple pints of Shiner Dortmunder and Aviator Devils Tramping Ground Tripel. The Shiner wasn't bad at all, pleasant and smooth. The Aviator Tripel was really great. I was impressed. 4/7/2011 9:46:00 PM |

Denver Beer Week
Went to FreshCraft and had:
Left Hand's Weak Sauce (Coffee Stout made special for beer week) Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Double-Dry-Hopped (Black IPA) Great Divide Colette Dry-Hopped (Farmhouse Ale)
All were incredibly good and unique beers for beer week, I'd say the Colette though was my favorite.

Oh, I also scored Breckenridge's 20th Anniversary Ale - Twenty (Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale)
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2137/65224
Two bottles out of the 240 bottle batch (bottles 5 and 9). http://beernews.org/2011/03/breckenridge-twenty-barrel-aged-scotch-ale-to-be-released-saturday/
And they were signed by the brewmaster J. Todd Usry
From BA it looks like Flying Saucer in Raleigh got some.

Latest score. I'm slightly annoyed that I added Duck Rabbit to my pick six given that I'm 15 miles from Farmville(though I've never actually tried it) and Turbodog is available at every grocer, but I guess the Stone and New Belgian bombers should make up for it. That Sublimely Self-Righteous is mad tasty and I hear good things about Le Terroir (unopened). Midas Touch was decent, the Highland St. Terese's (first I've had of the Highland brews) almost reminded me of the Sweetwater 420 which has been one of my top fives for the longest.
Hells Belle Oberon Turbodog Milk Stout Le Terroir
will most lilkely be cracked tomorrow.

pliny, pure hoppiness, port mongo, malheur 12 at obriens on friday
bottles of the duchess, idiot, sierra 30th grand cru (delicious! oak aged blend of bigfoot/celebration/pale), maharaja, blind pig while grilling out in la jolla -- we had the stuff for speedway floats but they didn't get made
and finally, supplicaton on tap at hammy's yesterday afternoon 4/18/2011 11:59:09 AM |

Avery pulling out of 8 states, this is like the 3rd or 4th major craft brewer to do so this year!
http://www.averybrewing.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=114&Itemid=29
Quote : | "Beginning in April 2011 beer shipments will be ceased to Arizona, Connecticut, Indiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island and Tennessee. Avery Brewing Company hopes to re-enter these eight states at some point in the future once production capacity can catch up with demand. The brewery is also leaving several partial state markets, including: Northern California (Bay Area and Sacramento), Eastern Arkansas, Upstate New York (outside of New York City), Central Florida (Orlando area) and Wisconsin." |

Big Oak comes back out this week!
I was told it would be at Bada by last night, but it will infact be there Thursday... worth the wait, totally, if it is anything like it was last time around.
and once again, I think Bada and Saucer will be the only places selling it (I know Bada will, but there are only 1 or 2 other in places that will have it)
I CAN''T WAIT!!! 4/27/2011 9:58:27 AM |
