This is actually not true. Unemployment is not at 9%. It's much closer to 20%. Poverty in the United States is documented at around 15%. So it is mathematically impossible for unemployment to only be at 9%. I'm not sure if it even takes into account graduated students out of work, either.

I'm absolutely not crying about it. I can't reiterate enough that I do agree with some of the supposed underlying themes that this movement stands for. But the fact is that, despite pockets of people within the larger group that are out there trying to make a positive change for those principles/themes/whatever there is an equally loud group who are out there just to promote their own self-interests with no real end goal.ccotti Park group)

And christ, man, this is Chit Chat. I started out just messing around in this thread talking about O&A. I'm not some drooling retard who gets all his news from shock jock radio, but I trust you realize that already. I have friends and family that live and work in Manhattan who have visited the site multiple times and have even taken part in the protest there in one form or another.

(also as a side note, as a native to the Tri-State area I focus nearly all my following of this movement on the NYC area and specifically the Zuccotti Park group)

Today I arrived in France from a long trip from Great Britain early in the morning. Then I had to travel by coach to Challiot, a place in Paris to meet with a fellow French aristocrat called Louis Pierre. First I rested for a bit at his mansion, and then we discussed business matters for about an hour. The deal we came up with seems to be very beneficial to both him and me. Then, Monsieur Pierre asked me if I wanted to go on a tour of the area. I was tired, but I agreed as to not look rude.

I was a bit shocked by what I saw. Although the area was relatively wealthy, there were dirty and despicable people with ragged clothes sitting down on the streets, begging for money. One man even grabbed hold of my pants, and I kicked him away. Monsieur Pierre laughed and told me that the peasants had gotten poorer during the last few years because of the wars France had been involved in.

Then, the man whom I kicked shouted something to me in French, and Monsieur Pierre looked a bit nervous. Of course I asked him to translate what the man had said for me, and he hesitantly did. The man had cursed at me, the nobles of France, and at King Louis. I was aghast and asked Monsieur Pierre if the man should not be arrested, but it seems that a lot of peasants are doing similar things these days. After I got back to Monsieur Pierre’s mansion, it took me a long time to sleep, pondering the situation of this country.

So Time had an article a few weeks ago profiling about 20 ppl who made up a portion of OWS. One of them, out of twenty, had a job (a special ed teacher). The rest were either artists, writers, students, or unemployed.

No engineers, doctors, construction workers, police, fire fighters, business owners (i.e. ppl who contribute to society).

Those who don't work, OCCUPY.
