^^^it wasn't a question of skepticism. it was a legitimate question - was it Roy that said that, and when and where is it from? GingaNinja was wondering the same.

Yes, ol Colonel Nathan Jessop was doing some shady stuff. From altering the tower log, to ordering the code red, making inappropriate comments to Jo Galloway, to forcing Colonel Markenson to committ suicide. I agree.

I Still have not figured out exactly what his attentions are with all of this, but I must say that Rashad has carried himself extremely well the interviews and the press. He is making very precise points and keeping his composure such to avoid looking like a nut job. Cold as ice, this man is.

Evidently ESPN put up the video online but cut out the part where he said Dean.

Whatever happened to the senator that was supposedly going to subpoena the NCAA if they didn't explain their reasons for not investigating UNC?

From the "revered" manalishi on PackPride (the guy who's been about 100% on everything he's predicted so far):

Quote :
"And the beat goes on.

McCants has obviously opened up a can of worms, and many of the players are now forced with having to choose sides. (most of the adults/administrators did so long ago)
It was known several months ago that a player from one of the "championship teams" would speak out; six weeks ago it came out (in closed circles) that it was McCants.
Roy and his teammates knew with plenty of advance, as well -- which is why you saw the "letter of unification" released merely hours after Friday's OTL show.

People can say what the want about McCants (snitch, outcast, etc.), but the fact of the matter is that he's telling the truth. Why? Because the data supports him. The transcript, all of the past players who were AFAM majors, the grade changes, the fraud, the decades of details in the RJA book, etc.
So as usual, UNC is attacking someone's character and/or credibility instead of dealing with the statistical data -- because there is no defense for the latter, and they know it.
After four years they continue to try and sway public opinion and stall as long as possible. That is the way the fat cats (above even Roy) want it.

Putting other players on the hot seat changes the parameters, however.
Most of the adults (involved in athletics/administration, or the Athletic Support Program) are deeply invested in what has taken place. Not only in terms of "brand loyalty," but also monetarily. People have said that their loyalty is like a cult, but a more apt comparison might be like owning stock in a company -- quite literally. The yearly tax records on a few long-gone key figures would be quite telling along those lines... which is also why you'll never see them speak out, no matter how much their names are dragged through the mud in the media. (or even by their own school)

UNC continues to put all their eggs in one basket. Deny, PR, and count on the loyalty of all past participants -- admins, players, support personnel, etc.
McCants has broken the mold. There are support personnel (from much further back then the Butch/Wiley years) who have corroborating stories to tell; they will ultimately need to make the head vs. heart choice, as well. Will they be an adult like McCants, or will they sign their name to more lies?

Of the five major events from a few months ago, three have happened -- McCants, the book release, and a major media report.
UNC has been fighting through PR to dampen the eventual release of the fourth. It's coming, though.

The fifth one appears to still be off of their administration's (and PR company's) radar. As some posters have alluded to from time to time, the old days of UNC controlling ALL the people in high places isn't quite as applicable today. There are some major state/national figures who have had some favors called in, and their cone of influence extends beyond the good ol' boy N.C. network that UNC has long relied upon.
Some of the school's recent responses/reactions may irritate the wrong people, and it could end up being a grand time if so.

Still more things to come -- from some key media figures, and also from a couple of other... let's just say "sources" of information."

"“No question about it,’’ Williams told “The Drive.” “Our track record is pretty doggone good. And our track record has been pretty doggone good for 15 years at Kansas, nine years at North Carolina. And we know how much we emphasize the academic side in the basketball office. We know what our guys are majoring in. We know – every day we’re in touch with those kids. So it’s something, again, that I’m very proud of."

Quote :
"“And am I going to sit here and say there is absolutely no way nothing will ever happen? Nothing will ever show up? We don’t know what’s going on every day. I mean, I’ve got 13 to 17 kids, counting the walk-ons and things like that. You don’t know. But boy, I feel really, really good about what’s happened academically in the basketball program since we came.”"

These are actual Roy quotes, not Col. Nathan Jessup

So 95% of UNC "fans" and Rashad McCants have something in common, neither of them attended class at UNC.

Thats what I'm saying. If everyone on this board wrote emails asking questions about the alegations to 99.9, they would cover it more. Then the walmart legions would start to possibly get a clue about whats going on in chapel pile.

"UNC prof cooperating with fraud investigation, could see criminal charge dropped — Dr. Julius Nyang'oro, who faces a federal fraud charge for collecting payment for a class that never met at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is cooperating with an investigation there, the Orange County district attorney said. That cooperation may earn Nyang'oro dismissal of his criminal charge, the DA said.

Seriously? "Spill" what beans? The DA is a UNC grad, I'm not sure he will ensure the whole truth is revealed, this indictment was all just a dog an pony show. They indicted him for just ONE class. What about rhe other fake classes? Grade forgeries etc?

Everyone wins, and goes home rich! No one from UNC is forced to take the stand, and UNC will "move on" from a "closed" chapter. Fuck this shit!!!

NCAA and Dickman going through NCAA's eligibility standards in painstaking detail. Wilken: "I'm not seeing the immediate relevance."

Here we go … plaintiffs asking Dickman about the UNC cheating scandal.

Stewart Mandel @slmandel · 10m
Well that didn't last long. Attorney: Is the NCAA investigating North Carolina? Dickman: "I don't know, that's not my department.""

Since when in the hell do you get criminal charges dropped for "cooperating" with a non-criminal, 3rd-party investigation? In what world does that make any damned sense?
