No way UNC can get past Northern Iowa. They lost to normal Iowa and Northern Iowa is best Iowa.

I was a little surprised that we stayed at a projected 9 seed after beating Syracuse. What will it take to move up or down? I know it also depends on what other schools do.

Lose to Pitt, probably still stay a 9, but maybe drop to a 10
Beat Pitt, maybe move up to an 8
Beat Duke, move up to a 7 for sure. Only going up to an 8 after beating another top 5 team would be ncstateshit
Beat ND, possibly a 6, but absolutely no worse than a 7. If it's any other school than ND here, it's still a 7
Beat UVA, 5 seed, especially if we just beat Duke and ND too, but if it's UNC or Lville, then maybe still a 6

We should be Pitt, but anything beyond that is gravy. Duke is playing very well, and if anything, it will be a great warmup test before the NCAA to remind us of the level of play needed to make noise.

Honestly, I think our odds are better against ND than UNC. I think, depending on performance in the ACCT, we're definitely a 6-9 seed. I just don't see us doing better/worse. Unless Miami really takes off in the Tournament.

Miami is the team that I think could really disrupt the other side of the bracket. We should be fine against Pitt and a potential ND but Duke will definitely be out for revenge - I'm not sure I see us getting lucky against them again. Same goes for UNC.

^^ND and UNC are on opposite sides of the bracket. It's not an either or situation. I agree that I would also rather play ND than UNC, since I think we will have more of a revenge mindset vs ND as oppose to a possibly over confidence mindset vs UNC since we just beat them. But it's possible to play neither or both too.

^Also, when you say Mimai is on the other side of the bracket, which team are you using as a point of reference as your current side? It might just be my bias, but I usually look at a bracket from the POV of NC State.

also I loved watching the Martins' reactions any time they were in a clip

FWIW, Wofford just won their conference tourney and is going the big dance. They're also 28-6 on the year.

Still ridiculous to lose to them in Reynolds, but maybe not as awful loss as I thought.

Because it's Wofford. In Reynolds. We aren't supposed to lose in Reynolds. And we aren't supposed to lose to Wofford. Even when they are a tourney team.

That would be pretty fun...NCSU revenge tour. get Shaka for turning us down, and a shot at a rematch with Wofford. plus it keeps us away from Kentucky and Virginia

The only team I actively want the opportunity to play is SMU. I really don't care about revenge or rematches, but I would love for Gott to have the opportunity to beat all five HOF coaches this season.

What concerns me about that is the talk about NC State being squarely in, and Pitt being squarely out. Makes me worried for tomorrow's game and the need to prove something Pitt will have. Hopefully we will have the same attitude.

I agree. I was referring to the article linked at the top of that bracket. "Daily Bubble: NC State should be safely in, but Pitt falls out"

Quote :
"Pittsburgh tanks at Florida State: Pitt needed to stop a two-game losing streak at Florida State today and couldn't do it. The Panthers fell 61-52 and fell off the bubble

Miami dominates Virginia Tech: The Hurricanes, on the other hand, did exactly what it needed to do to keep its tournament hopes afloat. They blew out Virginia Tech on the road 81-62. They still have work to do in the conference tournament, but they have a chance.

North Carolina State gets off the bubble: The Wolfpack secured a spot in the NCAA tournament Saturday with a comfortable 71-57 win over Syracuse in the final game of the season for the Orange. NC State should be impervious to even a bad loss now."

They've lost 3 straight coming into this, and have fallen completely off the bubble, plus they are now matched up with a team the destroyed them earlier this year. I think if we get a decent lead early they won't put up much of a fight.

V The thought of losing to Pitt isn't good for us no matter what it does to our NCAA seed. And who knows we could actually be closer to an 8 seed at the moment and a loss secures a 9. How accurate are Lunardi and Palm when it comes down to getting the seed #s right?

I wouldn't mind staying an 8/9 and ending up in that villanova bracket as my boss is a hardcore nova fan and if we played them then that would be hilarious.

Lose we move down, win we move up and get to add another Duke matchup to our strength of schedule. Either way I don't think we stay in the 8/9 game.

We need to give the bench guys 30+ minutes each and lose the game. Then we can claim we only care about the big tournament and it's a good thing cause our guys get to rest.

Being on the 8/9 line really sucks. Need to win comfortably tomorrow night and give Duke a tough game to hopefully give us some #7 seed love.

Also how in the fuck is UNC a #5 seed? Complete bullshit. They haven't beaten anyone since early Jan and clearly are not a top 20 team.

You're right. I thought we played GT twice, and lost the firm time, but that was just Clemson. But Clemson probably counts Syracuse as a better win, so we're still good there.

^^Why would clemson count Syracuse as a better win? We've got a better overall record, better ACC record, a better RPI and we beat them head to head. Who in their right mind would count Syracuse as a better win than a win against us? ahha

A few reasons. We're only ahead of Syracuse in the conference by 1 game, and overall by 1 game. And in recent times, Syracuse has been considered the better team, and it's difficult for some people to get out of that mindset. You ask other fan bases in the ACC, and I would bet a majority of them would think Syracuse is better.

So, while we are the better win, Clemson probably considers Syracuse the better win, as I said.

My dark-horse pick is ...

Fraschilla: My long shot bet to win the tournament would be NC State. They have won five of their last six with victories at home over Syracuse and Virginia Tech and on the road at Clemson, Louisville and North Carolina. We all know the Wolfpack are mercurial, yet capable of a great run.

Greenberg: NC State has a strong backcourt with Anthony “Cat” Barber playing at a high level. He’s explosive, fast and gets to the lane. Ralston Turner and Trevor Lacey make shots and they have four frontcourt players who can screen, rebound, defend and play hard. I think NC State is a really interesting team.

Any team that can make shots and defend the rim like us has a chance. What can put us over the top is Cat's performance from last night being the standard going forward. That would put us in elite company.
