Yeah, I'm kind of surprised I haven't found one on CL yet. I thought I had one wrapped up, but the guy backed out. I guess I can always just buy one on etix; it just won't be lower level. 7/25/2009 8:30:00 AM |

i might even wait until the night if i were you
it's sort of a toss-up
people are expecting some mega-epic shit* at the cradle tonight, and maybe even at OCSC today because everyone's in town at this point
if no mega-epic shit goes down then there may be a scramble for sunday tickets because there will be the expectation of epic shit on sunday
if mega-epic shit does go down some tickets may pop up because she & him are fairly bland (good, but bland) live
so who knows
btw, everyone else see via twitter how lambchop completely and totally stole the show last night?
* by "mega-epic shit" i mean jeff mangum singing ] 7/25/2009 9:55:35 AM |
wilso All American 14657 Posts user info edit post |
how did this jeff mangum rumor get started, anyway? just conjecture? i'll be pissed if he makes an appearance, because i can't afford those tickets (nor do i want to see most of those acts). 7/25/2009 12:59:01 PM |
jstpack All American 2184 Posts user info edit post |
There are about 50 tickets available for each show if you want to go out there and wait for 'em at 7 pm.
I don't like my odds, so I'll probably save myself the trouble. I'm thinking if something insane happens, it will be the last night during the She & Him show.
I would also think Arcade Fire would be more likely than Mangum, but that's a complete guess. 7/25/2009 3:33:28 PM |

MBV was pretty good. The opener (Kurt Somethingorother) was bad for an open mic night, which is to say that he was unspeakably bad as an opening act for this show. One dude who came out to corny jokes carrying a BLUE 12-string Guild acoustic and then played crappy strumalong ballads for more than half an hour does not a happy audience make. Holy shit.
Richmond sucks. Other than the place that's attached to the theater, there are no bars or restaurants within four blocks of the venue in any direction. WTF. 7/31/2009 3:03:10 AM |

I really enjoyed MBV. Other than "You Made Me Realise," I didn't think they were as OMG LOUD as some people act like they are. Really fucking loud, but not markedly louder than other really fucking loud bands I've seen.
Richmond is just an awful, awful place.
And I'm really grateful that I don't have to go to places like the National very often to see the bands I want to see. 7/31/2009 8:53:56 AM |

i was both blown away and disappointed. it was all loveless/isn't anything material with 1 or 2 ep songs. i was hoping for at least one big surprise but there were none. the 'holocaust' was amazing though. I was constantly adjusting my earplugs throughout the show so i could hear glimpses of kevin shields' natural fuzz tones at full volume. it was just like looking at the sun. you don't stare at it--you get a brief glimpse and then look away (from seinfeld). also i think they got much louder after the first song 7/31/2009 4:41:30 PM |

they weren't anywhere close to the loudest band i've seen

sucks that kurt wasn't so hot. brian, that's kurt heasley of lilys fame. if you don't have any of those records, go get them (or download since all the best ones are out of print) right now. stuff from 91 to 99 is unfuckingtouchable. if you get one and don't like it, keep going. i'm sure you'll find at least one that you love. 8/2/2009 10:56:40 AM |
