I hate when hold music stops and you think someone has answered, but then it just plays a message like "Please stay on the line. Your call is important to us."

When they play "Please stay on the line. Your call is important to us" for about a half an hour and then you get disconnected.

whenever I get a chance does not properly indicate of the urgency of your request.

seems like the older i get, the more this becomes the case.

Everything is really backed up and I am the only person in IT today.

I drive the smallest and least ice friendly car, I should have used the 'my parking lot is still iced over' excuse like the rest of them.

no such thing as an ice-friendly car. wheels do not work on ice, no matter what. snow-friendly is different.

When people send me e-mails with descriptive subjects like "COMPUTER" or "Help!" and similarly non-descriptive bodies.

I work on computers. That's what I do. More info would be really nice so I can get an idea from the subject what's going on, though I'm glad to hear you're not communicating with me about the melting polar icecaps or the finer points of the full-court press.

i absolutely hate it when people take the trash out of the trash can and bundle it up and just leave it by the can, then expect me to take it out. If you take it out of the can, take it out to the dumpster. It's not that hard. And I reaaaallly hate it when it's not even full yet and people do that.

I post information on my work website about a local event next weekend.

Several people bitch to me that it's on the same day as some volunteer thing and tell me to change the date.

I tell people tough luck, I'm not the one in charge of the event, maybe next year they can go.

Said people tell me to change the date anyway.

^^ I would put my phone on speaker in my office, and calmly call my boss. Then I would say that said person is in my office requesting the change. It's a total dick move, but they won't pull that shit on you ever again.

People who leave messages like this:

Quote :
"Hey this is Tom. Can you give me a call when you get a chance? Thanks"

WTF, can you not utter even a word or two about what you want? Why the big secret Tom? Did you even consider that if you told me what it was about I might be able to prepare and offer more assistance???

People that walk into your office at the same time as your phone rings and instead of leaving and coming back later, they take a seat and eavesdrop on your phone call like a mofo.

That annoys me too. Though a friend of mine is worse than any of my co-workers--the only message he will ever leave, no matter the situation, is "Hey, it's ***, call me back, bye."

i wont leave a message if they cant tell me what it is, cause my boss will just ask me to call them back, and see what its about. eventually they will give in and tell me

- no more free drinks in the break room
- everyone's gotta have their backs to their cubicle entrances (lame reasoning being that with desks turned the other way it's a fire hazard- my fucking ass)
- I can't work back to back days on weekends anymore
- they jacked up the prices on the shitty food in the cafeteria
- they made us take our dorm fridges out of our cubes
- We don't get a lunch break, so with the above 2 items, what the fuck???

only if you're hourly.

if you're a salaried employee, they pretty much can do whatever they want to you

i never had a problem with the lack of a lunch break for the last 6 years, since i had a dorm fridge/freezer deal that i kept stocked with food and beer.

This yankee driver I have who complains EVERYTIME I talk to him a/b how stupid us GD southerners are. One day he came in the office (which is unusual b/c he is a satelliete driver) and I was like wtf is he doing here.... apparently he pumped something, i have no clue what, into his tank that made all his used oil like clumpy and start to solidify. I was like HAHA I BET IT WAS US GD STUPID SOUTHERNER OFFICE WORKERS' FAULT. Maybe use should use your equipment and check tanks like you are supposed to before you pick it up? Hmm? And seriously, If someone tells me they have 250 gallons and you go there and they don't have shit, how is this my fault?? I cant look in their tank to check! I only have someone's word to go by.

Oh and the sales manager always punches me in the arm like we're pals and I have a dick b/t my legs or something.

then there's the flirt who pokes me in the side when he comes up behind me, shows me pictures on his camera phone where he might as well be naked and tells me he has magic fingers. sometimes i'm like oh yea cause he's hot, but other times he skeeves me out b/c i detect crazy behind those eyes and i don't do crazy... anymore.

[Edited on March 9, 2009 at 11:08 PM. Reason : mostly the yankee though]

wow that's a load of bullshit.

wtf is wrong with the lunch breaks? how are they losing money there? there is this thing called morale...and screwing with lunch breaks is screwing with morale (esp when they make you eat shitty food)

^^

well we never had lunch breaks to begin with, which was made up for by a lot of other perks. But now that they're morphing into IBM/AT&T, it's become a sticking point for me.

I dunno, I've been drinking the cisco kool aid for a long time now, but when the economy picks up, i will probably bolt.

^ Possible to turn the desk to the wall. ie. cubicle entrance is to your left/right.
Reasoning: It's faster for me to get out during a fire because I don't need to turn around.

my contribution: the need for many coworkers to bring their personal life and complaints to work every day and share them with me
