I would have to press A 17 times to hike the ball, but unfortunately would hit it 18 and it would throw to the TE or something...pretty stupid shit...

not to mention a crappy fumble on like the 8 yd line early in the game...but whatever...I woulda lost that one...

What I want to know is how NC State is the worst rated team in the ACC, and I ended up with them.. :/

Virginia Tech goes into Chestnut Hill and gets a hard fought win against Boston College, by a final score of 16-14. BC struck first in the early stages of the game with a 1 yard pass from Chris Crane to the FB McCluskey. VT got within 4 with a 19 yard field goal early in the 2nd quarter, and then gained a 10-7 halftime lead after a 13 yard touchdown pass from Taylor to Davis. BC went for a 4th and 2 at the 31 in the 2nd quarter and threw a pick instead of going for the field goal. Those potential points might've cost the Eagles a chance at a win.

The 3rd quarter was scoreless for both teams, so entering the 4th, the Hokies had a narrow 3 point lead. VT struck early in the 4th for an 18 yard field goal to take a 13-7 lead. BC attempted to drive downfield hoping for 6, but ended up throwing an interception to junior cornerback Stephan Virgil. Virgil nearly took the pick back for a defensive touchdown, but was pathetically tackled by right tackle Richard "Slowpoke" Lapham. VT settled for 3 and took a 16-7 lead.

Poised for a homefield comeback and their first conference win of the season, QB Chris Crane led the Eagles on a 9-play, 65 yard drive, completing 7/8 passes before rushing a QB sneak for a touchdown. BC, having 3 timeouts remaining, elected not to kick onsides, but ultimately couldn't stop VT's 1st down conversions. The Hokies advanced into the Boston College redzone late in the 4th before running out the clock.

Notable Stats:

Both teams got solid QB production, although Chris Crane of the Eagles threw 2 picks. Crane completed 21/27 passes for 204 yards and a score, and also rushed for a TD. For the Hokies, Tyrod Taylor completed 27/31 passes for 292 yards and a touchdown without turning the ball over. He also rushed for 27 yards.

WR Marcus Davis was the recipient of Taylor's TD pass, going for 6 catches and 98 yards. VT running back Kenny Lewis had 8 catches for 71 yards. For the Eagles, the halfback Josh Haden caught 9 passes for 84 yards, despite missing most of the 3rd quarter with a strained pectoral. Star tight end Ryan Purvis continued to play well, catching 5 passes for 47 yards, while fullback James McCluskey caught the lone Boston College receiving TD.

Neither team ran the ball effectively, amassing pitiful rushing stats. VT quarterback Tyrod Taylor was by far the game's leading rusher with a mere 27 yards on 4 carries.

Defensive standouts include BC's cornerback Roderick Rollins who had 7 tackles (2 TFL) and a sack. For the Hokies, linebacker Cam Martin and corner Stephan Virgil each got picks, while Virgil forced a fumble which was recovered by BC's offense.

Billy Bennett missed the Eagle's only FG attempt, an ICED 48 yard attempt near the end of the 1st half. VT kicker Dustin Keys had a nice game, with 3/4 made field goals. The only miss was a 59 yard attempt which struck the crossbar before falling short.

The only punt of the game was by Steve Aponavicius after a stalled BC drive. He was able to get a 53 yard punt that bounced out of bounds at the VT 8 yard line.

Next week the Eagles visit Kenan Memorial Stadium to face the hated Tarheels as they still seek their first conference win of the season. Coach Jagodzinski seemed surprisingly optimistic after his 0-3 start to conference play. "We knew it would be tough this year without Matty running our offense, but the Falcons are lucky to have a QB who doesn't murder dogs. Anyway, we might be 0-3 in the conference and 2-4 overall, but our 3 conference losses have come by point margins of 24, 14, and 2. I guess that means next week we should win by 7 or something, I don't know, I'm not a mathematician, but the point is, we're improving our play each week and we still have Notre Dame on our schedule with their fat overrated coach."

The Hokies visit Doak Campbell next week for a matchup with the Seminoles. Florida State is favored by 6.5 points in early Vegas lines. They're speed may not be representative of their on-field product, but EA Sports certainly enjoys slobbing the Florida schools' speed knobs.

For TWW Sports, this has been Mike Treeco

What. The. Fuck.

I got the ball 4 times the whole game. He had like 3 5 minute drives... I was lucky as shit to escape. It was 3rd down conversion after 3rd down conversion for him...

Great game, again though.

*** I got screwed on that last drive and it cost me like :15... I was definitely out of bounds and the clock kept running... I had to spike it on the 1/2 yard line with :3 left to get the QB sneak for the win...

He had 4th and 1 from the 20 w/ like 1 minute left and instead of going for the FG to go up by 7 he ran it with his FB and I had 8 in the box and stuffed it... I don't blame him though, I couldn't stop that FB on short yardage all game long...

Gotta give him credit... with that team he played the PERFECT game. Kept my guys off the field. When he went up by 2 scores in the 3rd I got the ball back and scored in 2 plays (the first one SHOULD have been a pick and the next play was a 67 yd TD on a slant)...

How'd you like my ball control offense ?

I got greedy on that 4th and 1 and went for for the game clinching first down

My QB was a fucking machine, 17/18 for 200 something yards

I knew I should've kicked that FG but figured you'd go down and score a TD to tie it

and I liked my chances better right then instead of going to OT

GG

I've got to start winning the close games. A wide left field goal was the difference this time around. I decided to get kick a field goal and get within 1 with 3:30 minutes left because my defense had been playing well in the 2nd half, but it didn't work out and we never got the ball back. We were right there, but just couldn't pull it out. Final 21-20 Maryland.
