The #10 Crimson Tide get payback in Tuscaloosa from last years bowl game as they squeak pass a very good Penn State defense. The Tide was moving the ball well on their first possession but saw it end on 4th down as the Nittany Lion defense stood strong and stopped them on 4th and inches. The first half was a field position battle and defensive struggle as the Tide trailed 9-3 at halftime. Junior running back Mark Ingram led a solid Tide running game with 122yds on 26 carries and a reception for a TD to give Bama their first touchdown of the game. The Alabama running gamepretty much had it's way with the Penn State offensive line in the second half, finishing with 247 yds on the ground and a rushing touchdown and allowed them to dominate the time of possession 16:38-9:08. After an injury to Ingram, RS Senior Terry Grant stepped up and broke off a 56yd run to put the Tide in scoring position for the game winning TD.

Bama:
Jackson- 11/17 for 130yds, 1 TD and 1 int
Ingram- 26 carries for 122yds

Penn State:
Newsome- 10/25 for 147yds
Royster- 24 carries for 91yds and 1 TD

A LOOK AHEAD: The Crimson Tide move to 2-0 and prepares themselves to take a trip to Columbia. Bama will once again look to get even with another team that got the best of them in 09 as the Spurrier-led gamecocks left Tuscaloosa with a W. To pull out a win, Saban will need a solid ground game from Ingram and Grant and a mistake-free game from his interception prone RS Sophomore QB Star Jackson. Jackson will need to look to other receivers as Heisman candidate Julio Jones will most likely be left with very little room to make any big plays.

The Gamecocks win a close one at home against the Bulldogs. South Carolina avenges last years crazy overtime loss by scoring 28 in the first half and then holding on as the SC defense made an outstanding stand from their own 10 yard line with under 16 seconds to go turning away 4 straight passes by DeLaureal, the last of which was dropped by Figgin.

After last years last second heroics by Georgia, coach Spurrier and his team raced out of the gates with QB Stephen Garcia throwing for 2 deep TDs to Joe Hills. A Garcia to Hills combination also setup another of the first half touchdowns. The second half was much less high scoring but was full of excitement as USC was able to answer a game tying field goal with 3:37 to go with a 31 yard touchdown pass from Garcia to Baker. This left too much time on the clock though, and in the remaining 1:45 of the game the Georgia offense methodically drove the ball 60 yards to the USC 10 yard line. A first down deflection by the Dline and a second down overthrow led to 3rd down and goal from the 10 with 10 seconds left. Junior AJ Green was unable to haul in a slant in the end zone and Senior TE Bruce Figgins dropped the game tying 4th down try on the goal line to allow USC to take over and win the game.

Up next the Gamecocks put their 2-0 schedule on the line against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Columbia. USC hopes to roll the tide with their high powered efficient offense. USC is now +3 in turnover margin and Junior QB has just 1 interception on the year to go with his 6 scores. Georgia falls to 0-2 after losing to VT in week 1; however they hope to regroup as they go into a bye week before their Mississippi State game.
