I know this is not something that is unique to NCSU or carter-finley stadium, but it is a problem.11/2/2010 12:23:40 PM |

Eh, whatever. I'm always gracious to opposing fans (minus UNC and Maryland fans), but the less of them that want to come to our house the better. If they continue to take the unsold visitor tickets and give them to students that didn't receive tickets then that's just better for us all around. We'll have more red in the stands and more noise. 11/2/2010 12:31:32 PM |

what a fucking cry baby. and that person obviously hasn't been to VTs stadium... where visiting fans are placed next to the student section and receive verbal and physical assaults all day long. What was described in that link sounded like sesame street compared to what I went through at VT. not complaining really... it's enemy territory.... I expected nothing less.... but to whine and bitch about it? fuck off and I hope that person never does return. 11/2/2010 1:01:06 PM |

First of all, our family section is well away from the student section. Secondly, the section for the opposing fans is on the other side of the stadium from students. Finally, we aren’t called the “wine & cheese” crowd for nothing. If anything, I wish our alums were MORE rowdy for the games. (But not vulgar.)" |

The only game I have been to at a visiting stadium was at Florida State 3 years ago. I had no problems with anyone there other than some lighthearted jabbing back and forth but I also wasnt near the student section. I was able to cheer and clap when we did things well and listen to the whole crowd go wild when they did. I think a lot of times people who have bad experiences bring things on themselves. I think when you goto a visiting stadium you should cheer and such but not as if its a home game. Most of the time when I see fans at our game getting a hard time its because they are there talking a bunch of shit and acting like an idiot to begin with. This is just from my experience though. 11/2/2010 2:49:42 PM |

^^ I went to a game @FSU and had basically the same experience as you. It was actually the Torry Holt 5 TD game that we lost 48-35, but I still had plenty to clap about. Honestly if you are acting like a dick in someone else's stadium you deserve to be harassed. Otherwise no one deserves harrassment for just supporting their team in a normal manner.

Banter about the game is one thing...
I have seen people who walk into those stands with the entirely high school mentality that they want to start a fight in the stands. Students can be rowdy, supportive, and loud while still being good sports and making opposing team fans feel like they aren't in danger of bodily harm. The lack of maturity in the student sections at times astounds me.
Also, why the hell do the students cheer for the opposing teams kickoff? That has always annoyed the shit out of me and I'm pretty sure we didn't do it that way when I first started going there. 11/2/2010 3:17:48 PM |

Sounds like someone needs to get a dog.
also: look at the picture of their seats. were those big mean girls taunting them. i would feel threatened too. my brother got pushed down 5 rows of seats after the ecu game so FSU fans can cry me a river.11/2/2010 3:21:41 PM |

some people can't handle any jabs, light hearted or not. plenty of FSU fans in section 15 were just as drunk, belligerent and annoying as anyone i ever dealt with in the student section 3 years ago. most of them shut up if you ignore them. visiting ECU fans are the worst, they talk shit nonstop then bitch about "rowdy and vulgar nc state fans" after the fact. 11/2/2010 3:24:09 PM |

Yeah I had friends who were sitting in a group near the student section and they were harrassed by the FSU section to the point it turned into physical altercations and spitting and the like. Unfortunately there are always gonna be those complete jackasses who cant handle their alcohol and have no clue about respect or morals that are gonna act like that and its simply a matter of hoping you dont get stuck sitting next to them. 11/2/2010 3:29:10 PM |

"Their fans were coming at us in groups, like some pack of wild animals. Coyotes or something. I got so frustrated listening to them howl at our loss... my face was red, man. I'm going to go back to my casino and smoke this pipe."
That's the comment I considered posting on that FSU blog. Decided against it.
