Come on people. I'm so tired of hearing the fact that Brown was unarmed. For all Wilson knew, he was charging to try and get his gun again.

Lots of people talking about what he did, but I'm not hearing much about what he should have done. Other than run...someone said the officer should have turned an ran.

We can't say what he should have done, because we don't know what brown actually did. We don't know what wilson actually said to him when he saw him walking on the street, or when he tried to detain him.

If brown actually had arms like hulk hogan and charged like a demon, then of course you'd shoot him.

But we know brown isn't like hulk hogan, and is not a demon.

If I were to comment on what he should have done, I would say that Wilson should have let him come within taser range, and handled it that way.

I don't buy that brown was going for wilson's gun. I think when brown dared wilson to shoot him, wilson reached for his gun, and brown reacted by trying to stop him (not a smart thing to do-- but it makes more sense than brown just reaching for his gun to use it).

Look, if you can't apprehend a teenager without shooting him dead in the face, then you really shouldn't be a cop. If you sincerely believe that everyone around you is capable of strong-arming your own gun and using it against you, then you really shouldn't be given a weapon.


Maybe Wilson should be a florist, or a babysitter, or a small dog walker, or something. He's not cut-out for law enforcement, because he sounds like kind of a pussy.

So McCulloch charged this cop with a felony for breaking someone's hand. Based on the circumstances, the cop seemed to overstep his bounds.

He didn't file a police report after 4 days, but it took Wilson 10 days to file his report. He didn't tell his supervisor about it, but Wilson never discussed his issue with his supervisor either (although obviously everyone knew about it).

Seems like shooting an unarmed 18 year old, that witnesses say was surrendering warrants a trial, just like hitting a guys hand for no apparent good reason warrants a trial. Wilson must have sucked a lot of dicks to earn this favoritism, or something...

The riots were isolated to Ferguson, there were dozens or more cities across the country with protests, with no riots.

It's still millions of dollars in losses in Ferguson, but they definitely don't characterize the tone of the protests nationwide.

Again, what would you have done differently? You have a big guy charging at you. Do you stand your ground, try to tackle him and take him down physically, while allowing him within arm's reach of your weapon, which he had already demonstrated he was willing to go for?

Tell me what his other options were. Run? Toss his gun into the car, roll up his sleeves, and prepare for a brawl? Plead to not get tackled?

If he didn't have a taser, maybe the right outcome would have been to pepper spray him. I'm not a cop, so I don't know what the effectiveness of pepper spray is.

It's a bit more complicated than that. Part of it is residual anger from the Oscar Grant verdict, part of it is that anarchists come to Oakland whenever there's a protest to spread their message, part of it is that some of the losers from the Occupy movement are still around, part of it is that Oakland's police force is vastly underfunded and the city has a reputation for being soft on crime, and part of it is that Oakland is centrally located in the Bay Area and it makes it easy for people to organize there.

This man had no reason to be scared, he had the only weapon there.
