Here's the thing...even in 21 Jump Street is good (which I've heard it was) and Tatum was funny in it (which I've heard he was), it doesn't mean he's a good actor. An undercover cop in a high school is probably one of the easiest roles for a mid-20s Caucasian to play. I'm sure anyone here could play it just as convincingly. He's just better looking than us, and probably has a bigger dick. Jonah Hill's the same way. Moneyball is the only movie in which he's really had to act, and he was surprisingly not dogshit.

But back to Tatum. GI Joe was one of the biggest budget movies of the past decade, and until John Carter, probably the biggest flop since Waterworld. The problem did not lie with the story, shitty as it was, but with the casting of Tatum and Marlon Wayans as the leads. Marlon Wayans from Don't be a Menace. Trying to be a soldier. They ruined the movie, and the franchise, forcing them to scrap most of the cast and launch anew this summer, although still, inexplicably, with Tatum.

So he can play himself, which I guess is admirable in the sense that he's not a total fucking mongoloid along the lines of Taylor Lautner, but acting is defined as playing someone else, and to this point, thats something he's failed at miserably.
