Finally did well in a multi-table online. Took 2nd in a 644 man $5 touney, got $402.50 for my efforts (chump change to some of you, but my biggest take out ever).

I was chip leader with about 75 to go. Fell down to 27th of 28. Only to get the chip lead again with about 15 to go, and at the final table.

Got heads up against a player who had 1 move really - All in. Very loose and bullied around the final table, was up and down, and survived on a miracle jack (3 outer) earlier. I had about 100k lead going heads up (about 600k for me). Got dealt A7 D and raised. He, of course went all-in (for about the 8th time on me at the final table) and I call. He actually had a decent hand K10 off. Flop was good for me, all rags, but he got running 10s to leave me down to the felt.

I won a few hands and had about 250k when I got 77 and pushed. He called with 78, and again got runners (9 - J after a 10 on the flop) to make a J high straight. Only adding to my disdain of the 78.

But overall, I am happy with the resuult, and my play throughout. Got lucky a few times to survive, but thats what it takes I guess.

So ive decided to start parlaying my SnG's.

I usually play a SnG if i am bored, or only want to play for an hour.

looking back on my stats, ive cashed nearly 73% of the SnG's Ive played on the party network.

What I am going to do now, is start moving up the ladder progressively, sort of my own version of their step tournaments, only wiht no freeroll loopbacks. however there are overlaps in the buy-ins, so even if you bust, you still make a little money or lose a small amount relative to the buyin..... unless you bust in the first level.

Start at a 10+1
3rd $20 -> 10+1
2nd $30 -> 20+2
1st $50 -> 30+3

20+2
3rd $40 -> 20+2
2nd $60 -> 30+3
1st $100 -> 50+5

30+3
3rd $60 -> 30+3
2nd $90 -> 50+5
1st $150 -> 100+9

50+5
3rd $100 -> 50+5
2nd $150 -> 100+9
1st $250 -> 200+9 (i think the 200 is $9 fee, i dont remember off the top of my head)

100+9
3rd $200 -> 100+9
2nd $300 -> 200+9
1st $500 -> 200+9

200+9
3rd $400
2nd $600
1st $1000

Im sure someone has tried this.. Anyone have any success? Ive only tried it once, ive only played once since i thought of this. I won a 10+1, and busted in 5th in the 30+3.. dissapointing. my roomate went 1st in the 10+1, 2nd in the 30+3, and then won a 50+5, but didnt have the sack to play the 200+9. (hes rebuilding a shattered roll after an awful 5/10 SH LOH8 experiment)

yeah, girlfriend of mine does that^. the first week she made about 3k.
she does the same thing in the cash games. starts out at 9am in the 1/2 tables, then makes her way up by the hour until noon. after lunch she plays SnGs starting at the 10+1 level.
then, the next week, she made 3k in one day...most of that came from 100/200. she doesn't play the no limit tables.
i don't know what her total payout has been since she quit her job at UNC. but, she's paying the bills and living the high life.

Its the second time in a year Ive gotten it. I don't know why. I deposited $100 on there back in October, and haven't played on it since, except for the other time they sent me $15. I've already built it up to $55, so hopefully, I can keep it going. I can't believe how much different the play is on here. The last time I was on here, I wasn't very good, now that I know what I am doing, its amazing the shit people are doing on here. Way more wilder than Absolute, FullTilt, Ult Bet

My best beat ever:

I get my hole cards and have pocket kings. There was a round of strong betting by the whole table. I just checked. Come the flop and it's KKJ. I have 4 of a kind. Really strong betting to the left and everyone but I fold. I raise, he reraises, I re-reraise and he goes all in so I call. I thought he was going to vomit when we turned the cards over. It was a bad night for him anyway.

he was just mad that you made him look like an ass by slow playing the hand and trapping him on the river by pretty much forcing him to call your bet.

Won a fake poker tournament in the World Tavern Poker Tour
(a bit insignificant seeing that its full of crappy players and its free)

Shocked I won seeing that I didnt play bullshit sometimes like I normally do simply because I knew everyone else would be playing bullshit or only very strong hands

Came in 4th place at another World Tavern Poker Tour event.

Completely negated that all by chasing a flush draw at another World Tavern Poker thing when I knew the guy next to me had two pair and calling his all-in (its stupid things that I do like this that make me think I need a lot more playing experience before I try and take on more)

Made two completely illogical calls in a cash game where I was winning in the beginning only to get screwed over on the turn (deserving but still sucks...I mean, when you know a guy is on a draw and has nothing on the board but you do, not matter how low it is you have to force him to make a decision...maybe betting half is chip stack instead of going all-in would have been the better route this time)

So its back to my "not so much bullshit" playing again...great.

thats the quickest way to kill a lower stack in a tournament. go all in when you know theyre on a draw. they always call.

if they get lucky, then you still have chips, and you can berate them for the rest of the night

ok...question for the greater beings here:
what is the proper way to play Ac,Ks from the small blind? let's say, perhaps there was a raise of 3x the BB from the cut off and a call from the button.
i'd like to know what you all have to say, then i'll tell you what i did.
...and i'll rant about what a bad call i think the button player made.
and yeah, i know that bad caller from the button is going to read this and laugh...but i still think your lucky ass should have folded. if you were against any other player, you would have folded. but since it was me, you 'just wanted to be involved in the hand,' i'm sure.

I don't like AK offsuit all that well. It's a great hand if I'm trying to double up or if I think someone's just trying to steal the pot, but in the grand scheme of life, it's not all that hot. If there was a raise 3x the BB and a caller.... well it kinda depends on what your stack size is relative to everyone elses and relative to the size of the BB. If I'm a monster chip leader OR a short stack, I push all-in against a raise like that. If I'm a mediocre stack, and a call/reraise would pot commit me, I'd either go all-in or fold. AK is not a favorite against a pocket pair, and it's certainly not a favorite against 2 other random hands.

we were all close to evenly stacked. i reraised another 1000.
both called.
flop was Kc, 10c, Xc.
i flopped a four-flush nut draw. it checked around. turn was a As. SB leads out with a bet of like 500. i raised all in. cut off folds, SB calls ... with his Qc, 9c. flopped a flush. ugh, garbage.
river was a a red card.

You actually had a fairly decent hand in that position. I don't know how much a "reraise of another 1000" is over the BB

Post flop, you were still ~25% to catch a nut hand (boat or nut flush)
Post turn, you are still ~23%, especially since you caught the A

You have to fear the flush...esp. if you know the player is loose/silly against you... I would have just called on the turn for the pot odds...he's only going to call an all-in with the flush pre river

If you catch the fourth club, he's got second nut...if catch the boat, he still thinks he's good...either way you take him to the cleaners and if you miss you can still hang around

so you had [Ac Ks]

and SB had [Qc 9c]

and [Kc 10c Xc As] was on the board?

wouldnt he actually have the nut flush if Jc came up???

either way, he had a flush, you had 2 pair (and some pretty good draws). i might have called the 500, hoping to trap with something better... but i wouldnt try to push someone around thats already got something. thats just me though

Yeah, a Jc gives them the uber-nut, but in that situation

Quote :

You've got second nut and no way to know he's got first nut...he could have had 6c7c and tried to catch. Hell, he/she could just as easily have had Qc2c and thought they were good with second nut. It's certainly not a bad beat...

im just saying, thats one of the things i learned the hard way hahahha. seeing suited cards that could possibly make a straight/draw freaks me out now.

either way, in her situation she knows theyre gonna call... well, maybe not. what was your stack size when you pushed?

hell, maybe it wasnt a bad push. you'll never win a big tournament if you dont take a gamble occasionally. A,K,most clubs on the river woulda crushed the guy

Oooooh, mama, I've got a ton of stories from this weekend's Atlantic City trip, but don't have time to post them right now. Maybe in the next couple of days.

By the way, JonTurner had another good day in Vegas on Monday, outlasting TJ Cloutier (who placed 5th) and taking 3rd in a $500 tourney at the Bellagio. Big ups and respek!

i finished 7th in one of those annoying free rolls yesterday...kind of. i caught good cards early against the idiots that like to go all in. i was chip leader until i had to quit playing. there were about 30 of us and i had about 275k. i had been playing for about three hours. got a friend of mine to log in and finish it for me.
his losing hand: a set of sixes on the flop, went all in and got called by someone with Q10 who hit the 10 on the flop, but caught runner, runner for a straight.
so i guess i'll get to play in another tourney sunday for 1k.
