BigEgo, then you might as well point out that T Mobile is rolling out HSPA+ this year which is 21 mbps.

^agreed. although i've had very little problem with them.. they certainly don't have the greatest network. and i've been a customer of theirs since before they bought Cingular.

It's just the default browser.
I use Skyfire and I love the copy/paste implementation, just click on the down arrow in the upper right, click on "Select Text" once you select the text and lift your finger it's automatically copied to clipboard. (plus it has Flash video support) - http://www.skyfire.com/
I know AK Notepad has good cut/copy/paste support too.

The swipe to copy is still crap. It's much better implemented in the native browser for senseui though. It actually gives you two tabs to drag. 5/21/2010 11:09:10 AM |

it's meant to be quick & efficient, typically it's quicker for me to swipe to copy, paste, then just delete what i don't want, than it is to click and drag two tabs to get it perfect. heck most of the time i get what i want to copy in the first swipe. 5/21/2010 11:18:58 AM |

Lol... no... They might start trickling in around the 29th - 1st week of june. That's when they're supposedly sending out the ones that are backordered now, so they might send a few out to stores too.
I've heard rumors that Best Buy is getting a couple a week, but not from enough people that I'd believe it.
I ordered mine in the vzw store on the 12th, and no news on it yet

data- $30/month 450min voice- $40/month 250 text- $5/month
so about $80 a month which is more than i am currently paying for more minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data through t-mobile. i don't need many minutes, most of my talking is nights or weekends so 450 minutes is fine.
are state students eligible for discounts? or state employees?

he's probably paying 29.99 for 500 AT minutes and unlimited data/text. I'm paying about 55 for 1250 w/unlimited data and text and it's going to shoot up to 80 when I spring for the Evo -- even after adding a 23% discount for 450 AT.
SERO is ftw, but it's finally time to move on.

Just about everywhere I go I have 3G service. Then again I live in Charlotte which is one of the first 5 cities to receive AT&T's network upgrade. When it's done I'll see that 7.2 more than likely. On their regular 3G network I usually see about 3 MB/s

Yeah, I had to switch to 49.99 when I started using the phone for work. I crunched the numbers last night and the ED450 with 23% discount won't put me out as much as I thought. There's no way that I do 450 minutes to landlines every month and they're letting me keep my Pick Three. So I'm definitely good on minutes. Also the rep said that off-network roaming should be included as well. So really the only thing I'm losing is the amazing customer support department that Employee Accounts offers and well, eCare is a close second, so hopefully I'll still continue to deal with them.
I just got a hit on Craigs for my TP2, let's hope it's not someone wanting to send me 5,200 for it because I really don't have the time to remail a 5,000 cashiers check to anyone. Even if they do pay for the postage.5/21/2010 7:01:12 PM |

firmware would also. are you saying that the firmware is better on the 720MHz phone?

The backflip isn't nearly as bad of a phone as most people make it out to be. Motoblur is a decent ROM, and it was and for whatever reason still is the only android I could get on AT&T without paying full price for the phone. Yeah the N1 >>>>>>>> the backflip, but paying 99 bucks for a backflip works >>>> better than paying ~550 right now 5/23/2010 6:36:07 PM |

the eris has 2.1 released I believe.
there's nothing special about the hardware. the 528 MHz processor and ~288MB of RAM have been in phones for a while. i'm sure bare minimum someone will eventually make a froyo ROM for it if HTC doesn't.
^you can do non-market through ADB, and supposedly it's possible to root it (I think you need special developer tools though because none of the tricks that have worked on other phones work on the backflip) only other thing missing is google search widget, and it's pretty easy to just use a shortcut to my browser whose default search is google instead of the yahoo widget. I'd love to be able to root or have AT&T leave some bloatware off the 2.1 ROM in development, but I'll be fine with a 2.1 similar to the experience I get with 1.5] 5/23/2010 6:59:30 PM |

We're still a good dozen days away from its public release, but the Evo 4G has already been given a rooting makeover. Google dished out Evo handsets to all the lucky (so lucky!) attendees of its blowout I/O 2010 event, and a trio of those visitors rolled up their sleeves and decided to get down and intimate with the phone over the weekend.
