Its not taxpayer money they're using for the PR firm, if that's what you meant?

^ Two things,

1. If the PR firm is being paid for by the Rams club/Athletics out of their money for an "Academic" scandal then that maybe opens up a can of worms.

2. I realize this doesn't fall under the letter of the law but to me any funds that a government entity has access to should be considered public funds regardless of whether they came from tax dollars or not. If it is a public resource (IE can be used by the government) then as the government is a representation of the people then it is owned by the public and should be subject to the same guards against waste and misuse.

If for example the state sold some land or took donations and then used the money to throw a hookers and coke party for the governor none of that money would be from taxes but I would have a problem with that .

Its what happens when you leave a house unoccupied for years and then go in to inspect it. With each panel you pull up off of the floor, the more rot you find.

"Woodall said Nyang’oro has provided "invaluable information that they could have gotten from no other source" to Wainstein, a former federal prosecutor hired by the university in February. Wainstein has interviewed Nyang’oro "four times, for many, many hours," Woodall told WRAL.

"He has met with us on multiple occasions, he has answered all of our questions regarding the academic and athletic dimensions of the irregular courses offered in the Department of African and Afro-American Studies, and he has provided important insights and information we would otherwise not have received," Wainstein said in a statement Thursday. "In sum, his cooperation has contributed significantly to the progress that our investigation has made to date.""

I'm sure he spilled the beans in the sense that he took 100% responsibility for everything.

I don't think that will be the case.

Mainly because if he said he was the one behind making up all the fake classes, that would be fraud. Maybe not so much if his superiors told him to create a bunch of no-show courses. Then, he's just doing what his boss tells him to do.

If the DA dropped the charges against the dude after he admitted to making up a bunch of fake classes all on his own and getting paid for it, that DA would face some serious hell. I don't care where he went to school.

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/07/05/5025393/former-unc-basketball-player-mccants.html

Quote :
"McCants spoke out again during an interview on Sirius/XM radio with hosts Mark Packer and Houston Nutt. McCants, one of the players most responsible for leading North Carolina to the 2005 national championship, said a lot of the same things he told ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” during a pair of interviews last month.

There were some new revelations, too, though. Among them: McCants said he hasn’t spoken with the NCAA about his allegations – or about anything else, for that matter.

“Not at all,” McCants said during his interview with Packer and Nutt. “I’m still waiting on that. And UNC hasn’t reached out to me, and neither has the NCAA. But we have strategic plans in place to really make some strides and get the awareness out for the people who don’t know anything about what’s really going on.”"

Come on Rashard. Put those strategic plans in motion!

And I didn't hear the interview, but if this is true (from a facebook comment), it's pretty awesome:

Quote :
"Carter neglected to mention that Mary Willingham called into the show while McCants was on the air. She said that Roy Williams told her that it was not her job to teach McCants, it was her job to keep him eligible.

She is Packer and Nutt's guest on Monday. Might be an interesting show."

YEAH SO WHAT????

SHE APPLIED TO DO RESEARCH USING ONE PREMISE, THEN USED THE DATA LATER FOR ANOTHER PREMISE. SHE IS A PROVEN LIAR AND THE DATA IS INVALID.

doesnt matter that she actually worked with these kids on a daily basis and everything she has said about the system/classes that can be verified... has been verified.

Evidently PJ punched a high school kid in the face during a pick up game at a YMCA in Durham.

Buzz on PP is that Josh Gordon was driving Hairston's Caddy when he had the DWI last night.

I really wanted to give the Hornets a chance this year, then they drafted Hairston. I was still going to give it a go but meh, I don't really feel interested anymore

If that one kid's account is accurate, Hairston behaved like a serious bitch. Got pissed, drove down the court, punched Barkley in the face, and laid it up. LOL

This video could be hilarious.

Everyday, another page in this tale is written.

- NCAA re-opening investigations
- McCants with 'strategies' to spill the beans
- Nyang'oro charges dropped to spill the beans
- Willingham suing UNC for firing her as a whistle-blower
- and now Hairston tied to Josh Gordon's recent arrest through 'Fats' PLUS Hairston donkey punching a minor at a YMCA

I know a book was already written, but they better plan on making it a trilogy or something, b/c shit's not going to be over for a long time.

I have been on a cruise ship and thus largely cut off from the outside world for the last two weeks. Catching up on this thread and what has transpired while I was away makes my transition back to the real world a whole lot easier.

I love this thread so much.
