We have a lot more experience playing in empty arenas. Think about our games in Brooklyn and Miami the last few years. Duke's players probably haven't played empty in 5+ years.

i feel like the ncaat is gonna be postponed. i can imagine a few universities refusing to put their players/coaches/staff/etc in harms way and that forcing the ncaa's hand.

Yeah pushing the NCAAT back doesn’t make much sense because guys will be graduating or transferring or coaches changing jobs. Plus what about players that could be ruled academically ineligible if the tourney is pushed back a month? That would be kinda fucked up.

Not to mention the CDC/WHO are saying this is going to be going on for another 3-6 months in the US, so they won't postpone the tournament, they'll simply cancel it.

The interesting thing will be whether or not the NCAA really considers the Ivy leagues request at extended eligibility for SRs this year. Not that Markell would have any interest in coming back, but it could certainly create some interesting scenarios.

I get it if the tourney is cancelled, but damn ... you've got to feel bad for the players. They work their ass off all year to make the tourney, and then poof ... it's gone.

Especially sucks for teams like Robert Morris, Bradley, etc. They win their conference tourneys unexpectedly, get psyched, and then still have to sit at home in March anyway

Kinda makes sense that the ACCT continues as is. Players, refs, staff, etc all are already in town and won’t need further travel. But the travel for the NCAAT is what you’d want to avoid

Yeah I think ultimately having the ACC/NCAAT without fans is fine. This is a serious situation but ultimately the virus is here and people are going to get it. We should definitely do a bunch to reduce the spread and mass gathering but I think it's hard to shut down life entirely. People still need to work and live and be able to enjoy some things.

So definitely let's not get 20K people in a confined space but its okay to still have some nice things.

Couple of interesting points from article on WRAL:
The Wolfpack has not beaten Duke in the ACC Tournament since the days of Sidney Lowe in 2007 at Tampa.
What we learned Wednesday is that State's zone offense works much better when Daniels and Hellems are in the game and not in foul trouble.

I especially agree that Hellems seems to be pretty good as the man at the top of the key against a zone.

If anything, I'd think not having fans should benefit NC State more than Duke.

It will be jarring either way, but at least we have those games early in the year when PNC is 1/3 full.

Duke always plays in front of packed houses with crazy loud crowds, even on the road.

I feel like they should just say no winner given the fact that they are declaring FSU the tourney champion without even playing a game.

I mean sure they are the automatic qualifier but "Tournament Champion" just leave it empty.
