The LSU player Ralston Turner apparently is only visiting one school (us). He has a connection with Coach Gottfried - he's from Alabama originally and was offered a scholarship by Gottfried when he was in high school.

I'm guessing he'd have to sit out a year if he transferred even though his former coach left LSU.

Turner is not 100% set on leaving LSU despite getting the release and making the visit.

Maybe the new LSU coach has the "If you truly love someone you will set them free and they will come back to you" attitude?

On Turner's part he may decide that the grass is not always greener when you have to sit out a year, if indeed that is the case.

But I am not disagreeing that a transfer seems more likely than not

6'6" - 205 lbs.
just finished his sophomore season
made the All-SEC freshman team in 2010-11
shot 37% from three as a sophomore (Scott Wood shot 41%)
would likely replace Wood after he graduates

here is the 2010-11 SEC All-Freshman Team

after doing some brief research, Turner was selected over at least four SEC freshmen rated 4-stars (Rivals) or higher coming out of HS (Turner was a 3-star recruit)

Trevor Releford, Alabama – G, 6-1, 180, Fr., Shawnee Mission, Kan.
Patric Young, Florida – F/C, 6-9, 245, Fr., Jacksonville, Fla.
Terrence Jones, Kentucky – F, 6-8, 244, Fr., Portland, Ore.
Brandon Knight, Kentucky – G, 6-3, 185, Fr., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Doron Lamb, Kentucky – G, 6-4, 195, Fr., Queens, N.Y.
Ralston Turner, LSU – G, 6-6, 193, Fr., Muscle Shoals, Ala.
Bruce Ellington, South Carolina – G, 5-9, 194, Fr. Moncks Corner, S.C.
Tobias Harris, Tennessee – F, 6-8, 226, Fr., Dix Hills, N.Y.

With De Thaey's potential bust status, I'm really hoping Lewis shines or Gott may lose interest in white recruits. They've become a staple of NC State basketball over the last 15 years or so, and I've grown rather fond of it.

but yeah, that team where we had to beg will roach to come back in order to have enough guys to play might have been the worst basketball team i've ever seen play.

Ralston Turner has talent but plays lazy. Lazy D and likes to jack up shots.

Transferring and playing for a coach that gets him to give a fuck might help. Although I'm kinda surprised he isn't staying at LSU with Johnny Jones coming in. We shall see.

Would be great if this kid turns out to be a Julius Mays story, only because we were on the winning side of it this time/

based on his stats he was terrible last year but if you made it illegal to take 2 point shot's he would've been a great player.

He rebounds well. He shoots the 3 well. He just never makes 2 point shots and he turns it over a little too often.

If we convinced him not to shoot 2's and not to pass to other teams he'd be a solid addition

He made a decent percentage of his 2s as a freshman. The drop-off in play from Fr-So years is confusing. Maybe they forced him to play forward or something.

Yeah, I know what you mean. We haven't signed an albino in 15 years, ever since Jeremy Hyatt stunk up the place.

Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

How can you say a freshman who hardly played and had no hype is a "potential bust"? Seems silly.

If round out this class with Jefferson and a good wing (transfer most likely)...then we're fucking solid for next year. FAST FORWARD.

^^first off, he was a freshman who hardly played. would you like to see a list of all the players who didn't play much or well their freshman season who went on to be good college players or even nba players? the list is pretty long. and 2nd, if there was absolutely no hype or expectations, how can he be a "bust"? sorry, i just think it's a stupid comment, and i think you're a total idiot if you agree with it

if you give a kid a scholarship and he turns out to not be good enough to play, he's a bust by college standards.

I agree. If he continues to only average 5 minutes a game for the next several years, then he is a bust.
