We don't really need him for next year, to be honest. We have 4 players (Zo, Lewis, Purvis, Wood) to play two positions. We're fine for the time being.

Wood is a wing/sf. just because he doesn't post up doesn't mean he's a guard. he rarely, if ever plays the 2 (deja vu man, we've had this argument before)

Turner's addition should definitely help in practice next year, and add some needed guard depth.

Wood definitely can play the two. He has the size to defend the guard position and his offense is basically working to get an open shot from the arc. He'll stay a 3 because that's where he's played and started for the last three years, but there's no reason he can't play the 2 if the situation calls for it.

he'd probably be a good sg at tulane or wright state, but he's a little slow on defense and doesn't handle the ball well enough to play much 2 against good teams. no knock on wood at all, i'm one of his biggest fans.

you just man up on defense however it best matches up. you don't call the other coach and ask who their 2 is so you can make sure that your 2 mans up on the right guy.

and it's not like we're the only team that does this. most teams don't have traditional roles fully filled, b/c there aren't enough good college aged players in the country for them to.

so to say that scott wood guards the SF is stupid, b/c he just guards whoever the team as a whole needs him to guard, regardless of what he does on offense and regardless of what the other team calls their positions. and to say that he's a SG b/c he shoots the ball is almost wrong by definition, b/c he can't put the ball on the floor whatsoever.

no, but you do assume that most good teams have a "2 guy" that's quicker than wood, both on offense and defense.
and most coaches wouldn't match-up wood against most good "2s".

We don't have to get hung up on this issue. I merely wanted to say that in an odd guard set, he could act as a 2. It wouldn't be ideal, but I think he'd do all right.

Moving on, tomorrow Amile gets an honorary Bojangles biscuit named after him... or maybe a cook-out tray, depending on what I feel like eating.

Also, it's tough to say but even with 4 burger boys, we'll probably wind up with 4th ranked class in scout and espn. UCLA, Kentucky, and Arizona all have great classes.

I have trouble blocking out the game where Indiana stuck little Jordan Hull on Wood and shut him down for a good portion of the game, despite the fact that Wood was extra motivated playing against his hometown school.

scott wood isn't on trial here. he is invaluable to our offense and if he plays as many minutes next year as he did this year, will set the all time minutes played record for nc state. it's not his fault he's not a pro.

that's a huge hypothetical i realize, but i just put it out there for perspective.

I had a bad dream that I came on here in in the late afternoon only to find out that he didn't pick us. I don't know who he picked but I think it was either Kentucky or Duke, and either way it stirred some strong emotions. People were mad, riots were started in Raleigh that quickly spread worldwide.
