I think I'm going to put in an application to volunteer at the aquarium...hopefully that will allow me to meet a bunch of people. I've gotta figure out a way to meet people and make friends here.

i can't see shit that's far away without glasses/contacts...

any slurred speech? numbness/tingling in parts of your body? if not, at least you didn't have a stroke

i bet maybe your vision changed or you've just been straining your eye maybe? i don't know what causes eye twitches. i get them but they usually go away after awhile. i think i'd die if i had one last days at a time. they're so annoying.

i'm pretty sure it's not a stroke...but it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility

my grand mother had several and i have a cousin on her side that had a massive stroke at my age which left her unable to talk or function on her own for years


she's fine now for the most part but it's also been 20 years

was it because of cholesterol/high bp?

there are mini strokes you know. sometimes people don't even know that they've had one. but strokes can cause blurred vision/changes in vision.

what is weird is that my dad's stroke made his vision better. but then once he recovered it got bad again.

i was really young when it happened so i'm not sure what caused her stroke


i know i'm probably just due for an eye exam so i'm not terribly worried

but the twitchy eye and pressure behind it are a little disconcerting

yea my eyes sometimes twitch when i've had a change in vision and that causes headaches because then you're straining to see that is prob all it is

my dad's stroke(s) were caused by this extra clotting gene he has (and has had, since birth, its genetic) and the first hospital he was at did the normal stroke work up on him (which i mean, not their fault) and sent him on home (eventually) then he had another "attack" (it wasn't really a TIA though) and they found out by looking at his eyes that he had pressure on his optic nerve and it was swollen and that is how they found out/knew to look for the "rare" condition with special imaging.

so crazy.

i usually can only read a few sentences at a time and then everything gets blurry

i have to constantly look away or refocus on something else


it makes reading a trying experience...that's why i can only read a few pages a night instead of a few chapters

that's awesome about the trip though. i loved hk. and yes, people drink a lot. didnt go to a karaoke bar in hk, but def. did quite a few times right over the border in shenzhen... so i'd assume it'd be the same.

never been to vietnam, but friends went relatively recently and their pictures are completely amazing... i'm jealous.
