you could, but it would be incorrect. I have the feeling that Wall and Favors have drastically different personalities and goals.

Wall has some ambition in him that wants to be a star. But he also loves his momma and has some modicum of respect for the area.

Favors really doesn't care about being THE MAN, I don't think, at least not as much as Wall does.

We offered to LaQuinton Ross.

Rivals has him as a 6'8" SG, and #1 player in the class of '11.

Scout has him as the #2 SF in the nation.

http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=68956&Sport=2

(apologies if this has already been posted, but i think the offer was recent, and i didn't see anything on the last few pages)

thats a HUGE SG

good Lord

reminds me of that guy from Florida a few years back.

i think with the next few years it all depends on Wall/Favors and how we do with them.

yeah, he's big for a SG, and he's only about 16 years old. He's been compared to Tracy McGrady and Kevin Durant.

Here's another little blurb.

I know that someone was offered last week, read the article somewhere, can't remember who it was and I can't find the article again.

Hi Bullet welcome to TWW and Sports Talk. It's good to have new posters. Yes the Ross offer is old, I reported it on here a good while ago, but it's always good to have a reminder about who we're going after and more discussion or else this thread would go nowhere until prospects actually visited or committed. Zagsblog said that Ross' mom was seen wearing a bright red N.C. State shirt at the Boost Mobile Elite 24 event at Harlem’s Rucker Park, in which LaQuiton played.

http://www.zagsblog.com/2008/08/24/laquinton-ross-has-options-3/

Ross would be a great pickup for us. I hope we can land him. I would have felt better if he had transferred to Word of God.

This guy's been brought up on here earlier, and this article's over a week old, but I didn't see it here.

http://ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=868672

7-foot '09 Russian Center Ruslan Pateev apparently made an official visit to Raleigh last Tuesday. He's got offers from ASU and Fl-St, in addition to us. A PP headline states that he's narrowed his decision to three, but of course, I can't read it all.

Hopefully we'll have Mr. You-know-who filling the center spot, but looks like we've got a possible Plan-B.

Haha, we might as well shut down internet forums then. Especially anywhere State fans post. We talk shit to UNC all the time with no real reason for it considering they dominate us in every single facet of every major sport...

I apologize in advance for being an argumentative noob, but I think you have confused every facet of every major sport with basketball in general. The reason for talking shit (and it is a very real one) is that we generally hate them for their success and bandwagon fan base in basketball as well as the general beauty and availability of females that populate their campus (in addition, all the guys that go to UNC are gay, making it even easier to talk shit for most of nc state's homophobic redneck fans).

I was reading a quote from Wall in my new Wolfpacker magazine that said he really values having his mom and sisters see him play, and that they are his biggest fans. That in and of itself was making it hard for him to contemplate leaving, and possibly staying close to home to play. Let's just hope that that means he's going to come to State rather than Duke.

I think the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has no actual information on favors, but they like to print articles about him every other day. Oh yeah, and the title of the article is "Basketball: Georgia Tech or UGA for Favors?"

We should call them out on it in the comments section. I've never seen the Charlotte Observer or the News & Observer blantantly try and push a kid to a school or two. Do they favor a school sometimes, yes, of course. We've seen that first hand, but they don't get involved in recruiting too much.

Hey AJC, why are you guys so blantantly pushing the man to stay in-state rather than just reporting which schools he’s going to choose? Every article is titled “GT or UGA for Favors?”, even though he’s considered other schools in the past, and while now his final 3 include UGA and GT, he’s also strongly considering NC State, yet you leave them out of the title. I’ve never seen a paper so blantantly try to push a kid to choose certain schools than you guys have. The fact that Sidney Lowe has had such success recruiting in the ATL area should show how serious a player NC State is in the recruitment of Favors. Will he choose State, probably not, but they are right there in the thick of things."

That's fine. But right now they are head of us in Men's basketball, women's basketball, football and baseball. Those are what I define as the four "major" sports and the four biggest moneymakers (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm an UNC apologist, admittedly. The enemy of my enemy is a friend type of thing since I grew up hating Duke... but I'm also an unbiased State fan (objectivity coming at you!) who can realistically call things as I see it.

That said, a little Internet shit talking isn't so bad...

With the ESPN and FSN television contracts I'm sure it's a money maker for most BCS conference schools.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm one of the biggest haters of women's basketball out there, but it is one of the top 5 revenue producing sports in college I'm sure...

I have one last womens basketball comment. The N&O reported on sunday that there was a girl from both Duke and UNC who could touch the rim, and that the girl from Duke could touch the rim with her left hand while getting a rebound with her right. Thats some exciting news right there!!!!
