Burns has a very small window of who can match up with and be effective. If you have a center who is mobile, tall, athletic, or can shoot from the outside, Burns is completely nullified

So it’s a fool’s errand to try to project this roster next year but I’m a fool and I enjoy errands so:

Pg Thomas/Pass/ T Parker
2g Morsell (he kinda was a 2/3 in between so call him whatever you want)
SF D Parker/Can Clark come back?
PF Miranda/Ross/Gantt
C Dusan/DJ/Ebe

That’s obviously assuming everybody that has eligibility actually comes back other than T (and Dusan gets a medical RS). Obvious needs are a shooter, a wing, and need a veteran ball handler. Not sure Thomas or Pass are ready to start. I have no idea what to expect out of Miranda (probably not much!) but we could use offense out of the 4 also.

If Dusan is able to come back and Burns is back, Ebe would be a prime candidate to transfer. I guess in today’s CBB universe, they’re all prime candidates to transfer.

Baby T played his heart out and almost pulled it out for us. No one else really stepped up. We couldn’t stop their giant inside. Agree that Burns is fun to watch but can be a liability sometimes. And he gets the laziest fouls, always slapping at the ball when he has no chance of getting the ball.

Yeah Burns is best as a role player. A guy that can get 20 points in a game but isn’t asked to get 15-20 every game. He’s a load and an elite scorer. But defensively he’s a liability and poor rebounder. Hopefully we can find better front court balance next year. Dusan’s injury really hurt us.

Fair, although I'd hardly call it bragging. I'd certainly like NC State Athletics to be successful. Being an NC State fan post-2000 has typically carried a heavy dose of cynicism. I assumed I'd find like-minded opinions on TWW if anywhere. I tried to give them a chance to bring me back into the fold as a bandwagon fan, but they shit the bed as always and mostly looked gassed and done for out there. Losing as an 11 seed to a 6 seed isnt really shitting the bed imo.

I don’t really consider myself an eternal optimist. But I try to be reasonable. We were an 11 seed. Creighton was a top 10 team for portions of the season. They lost like 6 games in a row, 4 of those Ls came with the big man injured (2 of those losses when he was healthy came vs eventual 2 seeds in the NCAAT). Had the big man been healthy all year, they might be a 4 seed. They’re legit good, I think.

I think coming off of how bad last year was, this was a perfectly acceptable season that was super fun at times but just happened to end on a sour note with Ls to Cuse, Clem, and then Creighton in the tourney.

Now, if you wanna discuss what led to us being an 11 seed and considering that a “success” then that’s fair. 2 NCAAT appearances in 5 chances (1 canceled tourney that we probably make, so 6 total years) is disappointing. Some of the recruits and transfers he’s brought in have been total misses and I think talent eval has been a weakness of his. He made staff changes, totally revamped the roster, and gave us a great turnaround this year. Maybe some of the changes he’s made will help us be better and more competitive in the long run.

Criticisms of where the program is at are fair. I just don’t really think we shit the bed yesterday. I don’t think we shit the bed this season either.

Fair. I don't really want to get into too deep an argument about my shitposting and usage of a common turn-of-phrase. There's no substance to it. Basically, I tuned in midway through the second half when I found a free stream, and was disappointed in the result in the perceived effort, which served as yet another point of confirmation bias for me. Clearly, it's better for me and for everyone else if I don't follow NC State sports.
