Any recommendations for nail places near downtown/NCSU?
Rehearsal lunch this Saturday, and my bridesmaids wanna go out afterwards and get their nails/feet done. Not looking for super expensive salon places.
I see a place called Pan Nails, and Cameron Spa & Nails?

Cameron Nail and Spa is more on the expensive side. i used to go there when i lived downtown. they do a great job but i used to easily spend about $7-10 more getting a mani/pedi than where i go now (which is a brand new place on Tryon in Tryon Village).

Queen Nails off Falls of Neuse is pretty inexpensive. It's not that close to downtown but not a hike either. 8/30/2012 9:57:30 AM |

so i'm bored with the blonde. that didn't take long. I was thinking maybe an auburn/medium brown color next? ignore the fact that it's miley i really love this hair color
will I be able to get that with bleached blonde hair as the starting color? I'm afraid of it going orange ] 8/31/2012 10:56:27 PM |

^ not a female, but I think you would look really good auburn/brunette. I'm a guy... so I'll back right on out of here 8/31/2012 11:37:33 PM |

Based on where you are starting out now my wife said to buy two boxes of the hair color you want. Apply it according to directions and see if you like how it comes out. If you are happy with it you can return the 2nd box. If it came out a little uneven (since I think I remember your hair being a kind of messy, uneven bleached - not in a bad way though) you should wait a couple days and then use the 2nd box according to directions again and you should be fine.
She said you should not need to worry about it going orange or anything. Dying your hair from a bleached color will actually take the color better than if you were coming from something else.
By the way, my wife has dyed her own hair for over 10 years. Right now her hair is dyed a very similar color actually and it looks great. It also looked great short that color and I think it would work for you too 9/1/2012 10:28:02 AM |

thanks for the info but I'm so not dying this myself. I am so not skilled enough for that
but I think I'll call the salon and schedule the appointment thanks guys ] 9/1/2012 11:25:26 AM |

oh np. I was just throwing that tidbit in there about her dying it for 10 years so that you knew it wasn't random advice from a guy who has never dyed his hair. And I wasn't sure whether you were going professional or DIY so I went ahead and gave the DIY instructions she fed me
But there is obviously nothing wrong with giving the job to a professional

I dyed mine a dark brown/reddish auburn with a purple overlay, and it's fantastic. You might like that. You can only see the purple if you know it's there, and you're standing in the light. Otherwise, it looks like a natural auburn. 9/1/2012 12:31:08 PM |

My hair is naturally the color (Miley) but you know I never like what I have so I dye it a medium brown. It's a very pretty color! Do it and post pics
I just got back from the Tanger outlets. I got 2 sweaters, 2 tanks, and a burgundy belt from LOFT for $95, a burgundy sweater with sweatshirt pockets from Banana Republic for $25, a pair of tortoise shell sunglasses from Cole Haan for $40, and a white patent leather wallet from Coach for $88. There were some sweaters I wanted to get from J Crew but we were done shopping and ready to leave. Good sales out there this weekend and lots of great fall stuff! 9/1/2012 4:34:03 PM |

Here's a picture after I got it done. The fluorescent lights don't show off how dark it actually is, but you can see the purple tinting pretty well on the ends.

but then....... I went to wash it out and this happened
my hair is bubblegum pink frosted. wtf. I have a cut and color next saturday so i don't want to try coloring it myself when i can have a pro do it in a week but..... if anyone knows of a megaultra shampoo of win that could maybe help fade this out I'd love to know what it is. I shampoo'd mine three times and this is as good as it's going to get 9/8/2012 12:24:52 AM |

WOMAN! What did you do!? Did you use a different kind of chalk this time?
There might be something special about the color purple. After all, shampoo for blondes is purple because the purple cancels out the brassiness caused by hard water when in the shower. 9/8/2012 12:46:10 AM |

You could put a little volume 10 developer in your shampoo and scrub it out for a few minutes. It will dry it out a bit though. 9/8/2012 11:31:10 AM |

Ladies, I'm ordering a bridesmaid dress online and it terrifies me. When I do my measurements (myself) should I round up half an inch or should tailors know what to do with my exact measurements or just have a tailor on vall to fix a mess? Haaaaaaaalp
Looking at this dress http://www.lightinthebox.com/2011-Style-Sheath--Column-Scoop-Knee-length-Taffeta-Ruffles-Bridesmaid--Wedding-Party-Dress-FSL0871-_p118945.html. Sorry on my iPad

DDK, try a clarifying shampoo, this is something you would prob find at a drugstore or a walmart, not every place carries them.... that removes basically anything that is not permanent (including the smell of pig poo)
^I like that dress with the pockets! 9/8/2012 12:28:32 PM |

I can't remember what kind I used, but not many shampoos have that on the label ... anything that says clarifying should do the trick (or speed up the process at least) 9/8/2012 1:57:58 PM |

When I have to remove product buildup or a lot of hairspray residue from my hair, I either use Suave Clarifying Shampoo or Herbal Essence Drama Clean, both are found at most drug stores or Target/Wal-Mart.
The Suave is clear and has a fresh scent, while HE is lime green and has a pineapple scent. The HE always lathers better with my thick hair so I generally will use that the most. 9/8/2012 3:21:32 PM |

I saw an infomercial for WEN
Anybody ever heard of this shampoo alternative? I'm trying to find a shampoo/conditioner that doesn't have an alcohol in the first three ingredients... 9/8/2012 8:04:23 PM |

^ I use Lush shampoo, I love it. I have never tried Wen though, I hate anything that has infomercials for some reason. They have a store in most cities (there is one in crab tree)

^yay
^^ DJLauren, one of my favorites is Big Daddy (for more volume)
but right now I use Daddy-O (for blonde/light hair) which makes my hair have a nice sheen (plus I like the smell).
and I use Veganese as my conditioner, very light weight and it smells awesome, and it is good for your skin!!!
the best part is that while it is a tad pricey (for me a college student) this shit lasts forever and my hair is past my shoulders

@ DJLauren - A friend of mine was using wen and has had really, really terrible problems with their customer service. She actually posted a PSA-style warning against them via facebook recently. I can't say anything regarding the product's effectiveness though. 9/8/2012 8:41:01 PM |
