The girl who gets mad at me and questions why I am late when I walk in about 5 minutes late sometimes annoys me. I heard they aren't letting her come back though. My clock said I was on time!

my problem is when im working with a unionized company and i try to help out:

I am ME, union employee is DA(think about it)

DA: Boss, he's doing my job!(cause im too lazy or too stupid to get it done as fast as a non-union person)

ME: I'm just trying to help out, I saw you were getting behind.

DA: If I get behind, then everyone waits! (cause if they try to fire me and put in someone who can do it better, the union rep will rip them a new one)

ME: *facepalm*

This or some variation of it happens all too frequently.

Not only do I not get to go to a going away party my office is throwing for a coworker, but I am also going to be at the front desk all day AND I will not be getting a lunch.

Being the receptionist is not my job, dude, this makes me want to go out and find something that will actually use my degree.

^^ Oh I have, but Work Mom may have come to my rescue on this one.

They keep saying that this is a temporary fix before setting up an automated secretary, but it's been "temporary" since last july.

If it hits a full year I am going to make a cake for the people who are up at the front desk and shouldn't be

and I have your mom's resume as of 5/19 in my gmail

yeah, i've heard horror stories about having to wait all day to have an electrical union guy come up and plug in a piece of equipment and putting everyone behind a full day. it's the complete opposite of efficiency.

Parents that homeschool.

Too many of them are the controlling, (unreasonably) demanding, type A assholes. That, or else they can barely wipe their own asses.

The chick from UNC who insists on giving people directions based on how she gets around. Which usually isn't the best way (neither simple nor fast), and gets HORRIBLY offended if I offer to help, say there's a better way, or make alternate suggestions. I grew up in this area, go to school here, and did delivery. I think I know my way around better than you

a lot of places just give you an alotment of "personal" days or hours and they're for sickness, funerals, doctor's appointments, etc., but if you save them up you can have an extra week of vacation or whatever.

ok so these stupid fucks in northern michigan used to be one of our dealers, but then they stopped buying for like 2 years

they just stopped returning calls, and had no contact with us at all

we had to set up a new distributor for the area, and pretty much start from scratch

now they want to buy again out of nowhere, and got pissed cause i wont give them wholesale price

they called my boss and told him how mean i was and shit, while he had been sitting next to me during the previous call

he called them out on it, and they hung up on him

two hours later, his boss calls

the customer is always right, unless they are snobby douche bags

Allow me to post the e-mail string that I had with my coworker today. I think it speaks for itself:

Me to Her
Quote :
"Truck Roll for customer ######. Connie called in and cannot get her modem to connect to the internet. She has 5 lights burning solid on her modem. Tried to have her power cycle the modem and it didn't work. We will need to do a truck roll because she is disabled and unable to bring the modem to the store for me to look at it.

Thanks"

Her Response:
Quote :
"She has to dial 1-888 ###-#### first, to let them help her with troubleshooting, unless this has been done we cannot schedule the truck roll.

Thanks"

My Response:
Quote :
"Did you check the notes on the account? She has called the 888 number several times with no resolution. I also attempted to troubleshoot over the phone with no resolution. It is possible that it is a power supply issue, but as I said in my original e-mail, the customer is disabled and can't come into the store for me to troubleshoot the power supply. Someone will need to go to her, which is why I am asking for a truck roll."

Her Response:
Quote :
" read the notes after the email was sent, and it is procedure to call 888-####### for troubleshooting first, reason being if the troubleshooting team feels customers need a truck roll, they will schedule it for the customer.

Did the customer come in for a replacement power supply cord?"

My Response:
Quote :
"OK, for the third time now. The customer is disabled (handicapped) and cannot leave her house. So no, she did not come in for a replacement cord. Again, hence the reason I have requested someone to go to her house."

Her Response:
Quote :
"Ok Eric,

If the woman clearly needs a new power cord, it wastes time and money to bring a technician to her home for that one purpose. She can have someone bring in her equipment to swap the power cord, I thought that is what was suggested by [My Boss].

[My Boss], can you please make a call here on this, Eric seems to think he knows best."

This is the part where I really got pissed off. Shall I continue?

My Response:
Quote :
"I'm not going to argue with you Coworker. When it comes to customer service, it appears that I do know best. This customer has been with us for over 2 years, and it is not clearly a power cord issue. It is possibly a power cord issue, but there is no way to know for sure without looking at it.

Just cover the store for me from 3-4 and I will go take care of her myself. I just thought we had 2 technicians that we paid for these types of things."

Her Response:
Quote :
"You cannot ask me to do you a favor when 2 emails ago you were insulting me."

My Response:
Quote :
"Where in this string of e-mails did I insult you? I asked for a truck roll because this customer could not be helped in any other way, and you declined. I question why you would not want to help me take care of this customer, but I in no way am trying to insult you. I am trying my best to facilitate a customer who has clearly gone through the proper channels and has not had her issue resolved. If the same effort would have gone into helping this customer rather than trying to avoid helping her, her problem could have been solved by now.

I have been in Burlington all morning and I am going to be here until 2:30. If I were in Greensboro, I would have taken care of it this morning. Even though it is not one of my customers, and even though it is technically not in my job description to do truck rolls."

And the conclusion:

Her Response:
Quote :
"Since you care so much about customers, one of yours just called asking why your promised installation did not happen today.

I am going by protocol about truck rolls, that is my job. Maybe you should focus on what is your job instead of what other people are doing, in your process you failed to meet a customer.

You insult me by telling me you know more about my job then I do, and that I do not know customer service, your emails to me are demanding and degrading and I will not take that from anyone, especially a sales rep.

I am working and I will not respond to ANY further emails on this matter, please speak to [My Boss] if you have more questions with this issue. This is a waste of my time and I have more important things to focus on. I have left the decision to [My Boss] as to whether or not it is feasible to do the truck roll for this customer, I will wait for his approval before I schedule it."

My Response:
Quote :
"We will discuss this when I get into the office at 3PM.

As for my customer that did not get installed. [My Boss] was supposed to be in Kernersville this morning where the customer lives, and he was going to do it for me between 11AM and 12PM. If that was not taken care of, please have [My Boss] call me. And also, why was I not contacted when the customer called in so I could take care of it?"

THE END

Well, long story short. The truck roll got done.

I walked into the office and she immediately started apologizing. Saying that she was just a girl and all emotional and shit. I told her that she needs to stop taking business personal.

My boss was copied on every one of those e-mails as well, so I can't wait to hear what he has to say about it.

At no point in this email string did it dawn on you to call the woman in question rather than exchange email after email ?

You must be one of those people who text back and forth instead of making a call

Its so much easier to just talk to the person than trying to communicate via written word

It doesn't matter if you were in fucking Phoenix

Take 5 minutes to make a call rather then however long a pointess back and forth email chain takes

You just sound like someone who likes to avoid confrontation whenever possible

Nothing wrong with that; it just takes longer to get things done

Inefficiency is one of my pet peeves

I'm not going to act like I know your exact situation

It just seems like typing multiple 100 word + emails ( and waiting for a response for each one) would take a significant amount of time

Whereas a phone call resolves it instantly
