its just one of the people that they ran out of shit use, the sawyer/jack flipflopping only was interesting so long... there was nothing they could do with the murder, they just happened to pick something thats fucking boring as fuck. I would put that shit up for adoption.

Sun was way hotter than Kate in season 1.

You can definitely tell how some of the characters have aged since the series began. Now it's kind of a toss-up, but I'm leaning towards kate.

kate has been terrible ever since season 1. she doesn't listen to anyone even if they have her best interests in mind and has almost no regard whatsoever for the safety or well being of others. her taking aaron was one of the few positive things she's done on this show.

i mean she always seemed to be a somewhat weak supporting character, and i think the shift into the Oceanic 6 made her more prominent, and way more annoying. Like season 1-3 i guess all she ever did was just follow someone else around then switch sides halfway through. Thats not great story telling, but post aaron her minor annoyance was just amplified.



basically early on her minor annoyance was outweighed by her hotness, but it just doesn't hold up anymore.

kate is by far the worst character on the show. She was only kept on to fuel the Jack/Sawyer balance of powers early on. Their issues outgrew her as well as the story moving in a different and finite direction made her character all but useless. I suppose by then they just decided to keep her on as eye candy.

i guess kate insisting on going to the black rock in season 1 to get dynamite FOR NO GOOD REASON did it for me

and getting the child hood friend killed

and endangering the lives of everyone in that bank so she could get a toy plane out of a safety deposit box

and blowing up her dad because he beat her mom

and following jack, sawyer and locke when they went after michael even though jack told her not to come (because she had no reason to go) in season 2

and having the whole thing between jack and sawyer where she eventually fucked sawyer despite knowing jack was into her

and trying to go back for jack after he arranged for her and sawyer to be freed from hydra island after he told her not to come back

then leading a search party with locke back to the barracks to free jack even though he was about to leave the island which resulted in locke being manipulated into blowing up the sub by ben, thus ruining anyone's chances of leaving

and abandoning jack after they left the island when he started getting all crazy and needed help

i'm sure there are others i forgot to mention

none of those things stand out to me, its always the same thing, going back to save someone by switching sides. I just think its different now because most people are falling into paths of 'redemption' by changing the way they act on the island, but kate is just in the process of going back to save someone (again)

Sawyer is taking action and helping others (we'll ignore when he helped the other losties get into dharma)
Jack isn't trying to be in control
i don't care about sun, she's always been uninteresting.
Hurley is standing up for something instead of holding back
Kate is bringing someone back instead of going back to get someone.


Its just annoying that her final plotline is the same as it has always been, when other people are actually changing.

no, it's not. when she ignored jack to go to the black rock to get dynamite to blow up the hatch in season 1 she had no business doing it. jack didn't want her to go because it was dangerous and he had feelings for her, but she deliberately went because she just HAS to be involved with whatever's going on no matter how much it does or does not involve her. and they never made it out to be some kind of motive where kate would carry the dynamite so jack wouldn't have to. she's never been that kind of character.

she wasn't going back to save anyone by getting the toy plane. she needed it for herself, and anything could've happened during the robbery, including someone getting seriously injured or killed. but none of that mattered to kate because she just HAD to have that plane.

she got her childhood friend killed because she was already on the run and didn't know where to go. she went to him out of HER best interest, not his. obviously staying away from people you care about would be the correct decision so you wouldn't endanger their lives. kate did it anyway.

she blew up her dad to protect her mom, but is cutting a gas line in the house and blowing it up while he dies inside the right way to go about doing that? come on.

she had absolutely no business following jack, sawyer and locke out in the jungle when they went to get michael. none whatsoever. she wasn't trying to save anyone or switch sides or whatever. kate HAD to be involved again. and as a result a bunch of guns were taken from them. she put everyone in an even worse situation than what they were already in because she's annoying as fuck and won't listen to anything anyone tells her.

i'll give you the thing in the cages with sawyer, but if you remember correctly she later went back to sawyer after jack and locke's tribes split up in season 4 and locke's side went to the barracks, so she didn't just fuck him out of pity.

i really don't need to go any further with this. at times kate has good intentions, but she usually ends up making the wrong choices and screwing people over in the end. other times she just does whatever she feels like doing regardless of whether or not she's putting herself or other people in a dangerous spot as a result. kate has always been annoying, not just after she got off the island.

i'm just saying she had been prominent and extremely annoying long before season 5. i'm not sure how many times you've watched the series, but kate is far more irritating the second and third time through than she is at first in my opinion. i was just listing all the reasons why, and you said none of those things stood out to you although her entire character is extremely irresponsible and reckless, and it's been her inherent nature long before she even reached the island. it's never just been minor cases or her as simple as her just following someone around and switching sides or going back to get someone. she's constantly been fucking things up since day 1 with her poor decision making and disregard for others' safety or wishes, even when those wishes are to protect kate's best interests. and i'd argue that aside from ditching jack when he needed help the most in season 5, she was actually behaving responsibly for once by raising aaron. but even then cassidy pointed out that she was just using aaron because sawyer broke her heart. as Jeepin4x4 said, kate is by far the worst character on the show, and she always will be. great job on the part of the writers for creating such a hateful character that draws out such a response.

yeah everything I read has said that the Richard episode was going to be a "gamechanger" episode this season, but that the episode before the two hour season finale (i.e. next weeks episode) is going to be amazing. I'm not going to post the reason why (even though its documented in the above posted article), but its something that has never been done before on a tv show so close to being completed
