WHEREAS, the collective population of Ohio, especially the people of Cleveland, hereby claim the throne of the pettiest fanbase in all of sports, exposing themselves as nothing more than ruthless scavengers while taking schadenfreude to a whole new level.

Its seriously gotten to the point where it resembles some of Cartman's exploits just to spite Stan and Kyle because he hates them so much.

Haha. I wonder what the privileges and honors of being an Ohioan are?

-The ability to taste sour grapes almost a full year after they are consumed.
-An unrelenting desire to claim credit to innovations in the field of aviation, to the point of developing an inferiority complex with the state of North Carolina.
-Giving top football players/recruits vehicles and other assets to ensure football victories against the powerhouses known only as Dayton, Kent St., and Miami of Ohio.

That's about all I know about Ohio, so feel free to supply others.

\/ I went there as a kid. I lived in NC at the time, but I was accompanied by some Ohioans, so I guess their honors and privileges were sufficient for me to be allowed in the park.

"Peoria Chiefs Lampoon LeBron James

For one night, fans of the Peoria Chiefs can have their own replica of LeBron James' first championship ring.

Call it the cheapest promotion in sports history because, like James' ring, the handout doesn't exist.

The Chiefs, a Class A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs in the Midwest League, will hold a "LeBron James NBA Championship Replica Giveaway night" Thursday, poking fun at the Miami Heat star's loss in the NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks.

"Replica rings" -- also known as air -- will be handed out by stadium workers as fans enter the park, according to Chiefs spokesman Nathan Baliva.

Throughout the game, Peoria will honor "a true champion" -- the Chicago Bulls' six NBA titles -- with video clips and audio highlights, and the Chiefs will take the field to "Sirius," the Alan Parsons Project song used by the Bulls during their player introductions.

The Chiefs said they are "looking into" whether they can skip the fourth inning -- another poke at James, who scored just 18 points during the fourth quarter in six NBA Finals games.

"We aren't sure if the league will allow it," Peoria president Rocky Vonachen said in a statement. "But if LeBron doesn't need to show up for the fourth, maybe we won't, either."

Among the other James promotional digs planned: A fan will win a "replica" of James' Finals MVP award (which actually went to the Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki), and Heimlich maneuver classes will be offered to help prevent people from "choking in a big situation."

"Really, this is just us getting back to the real world and waking up today and trying to solve our own personal problems," vice president of ticket sales Eric Obalil said.

Baliva said a Bulls tribute for Thursday had been in the works since November, in hopes that Chicago would be coming off another NBA championship.

The James addition to the promotion was announced midday Tuesday, and Baliva said there was an immediate reaction.

"We were seeing stuff not just from Chicago and Cleveland, but all over the country," Baliva said."

good god, you people act like this shit isnt just a big joke. The governor letter, now this ring thing are just tongue-in-cheek jokes. The hatred for Lebron and the Heat isnt a Cleveland or Ohio thing.

If you cant find the humor in the Governor declaring the Mavericks "organization, friends, family and fans honorary Ohioans for a day", then you are taking life too seriously or something

Its not a joke. These people are really that bitter. And the fact that you can't see that makes you just as big of a sucker as them.

neither. I dont agree with you but I'm not going to argue with you about it. I think it was a joke and you dont.

I'll say this, my dislike of Lebron, the Heat and the NBA in general ended when the Mavs won the title. I didnt want Lebron to win a title in his first year away from the Cavs, I could care less what happens to the Heat now. I still dont like them because they are (in my opinion) representative of everything wrong with the NBA, but the only "closure" I needed was LBJ not winning the title this year. I dont live in Cleveland so I dont know if that sentiment is the same up there or not

This shit with the governor and minor league baseball promos are just ways for people to get a laugh and jump on the Lebron hate bandwagon before it leaves town for good.

These jokes are pathetic. Really the joke is on Cleveland though, because that city and the whole state suck.

Where can I find a shirt that says, "Detroit, at least it's not Cleveland."?

Yeah everyone gets that they were jokes, the problem is they just aren't funny. Hopefully the governor can come up with some snappy jokes about setting VCR clocks, TV dinners, and airplane food.

Edit: The Peoria Chiefs? Strange that they take a jab. Not in Ohio and they belong to the Cubs... I didn't watch the series, but I heard Lebron was pretty good in the series against Chicago.

I don't venture into Sports Talk often, but I'm surprised no one said anything about this:

^ There are lots of disorders with the exact deletion as the name (Deletion 22q11, Deletion 17q12, etc). I think it mainly has to do with the fact that the deletions are pretty consistent in that area - some disorders that have a deletion of part of a gene can have many different mutations found within different people in that gene instead of the whole thing being mutated (deleted, duplicated, etc)
