Clarification: Goodman is a c/o 2012 recruit.

Quote :
"He would play for us next year. Not that difficult."

"Next year" in any context would imply the year following the current one, or 2013. We're already in 2012 now, and the upcoming season starts in November 2012.

"We could really really use this guy next this year."

Goodman and Painter both play in the post. Gottfried uses a pg, 2 wings and 2 high post players. So yes, they play the same position on offense. On D, they obviously wouldn't be interchangeable.

Goodman reminds me of PJ Tucker, the 6'5" power forward from Raleigh that Herb passed on, who dominated in 3 seasons at Texas before getting drafted as a Junior.

Better known to the rest of the world as being one dumb motherfucker. In reality he is a smart dude, but he was just banking on leaving earlier for the pros.

Purvis is trying to make the US Under 18 team... I'd forgotten he reclassified and is still 17.

Great news, guys

Quote :
"Julius Randle has no official college list and probably can envision himself at a number of different schools.

But one school he can definitely imagine playing for is North Carolina, which has been recruiting him about as long and hard as anyone.

“Coach [Roy] Williams is doing a great job of recruiting me,” the 6-foot-9 Randle said by phone from the USA U18 training camp in Colorado Springs, Colo. “Just staying on me and talking to me and establishing a relationship."

I don't really understand how a State fan can show favoritism to either one.

Hmmm, let's see. Cameron Indoor's official capacity is 9,314. Add maybe 10,000 to that and you have the entire Duke fan base in NC. I, along with most people in this state don't give a shit about Duke. Any way they can be a thorn in the side of UNC is fine by me.

UNC-CH and Duke fans are one in the same. I might actually tip the scale in Duke's favor with regards to who is more annoying. They both have tons of Wal-Marters, but Duke has a higher Wal-Mart per alumni ratio.

I don't know how any State fan could do anything less than hate both of them. Nothing is worse than a Wal-Marter.

It's really simple...there are just more UNC fans. So the quantity of their arrogance surpasses the quality of Duke's arrogance. Besides, Duke fans disappear during football season (which also lends to the "quantity" argument).

Growing up, a lot of your friends were UNC fans. And for most t-dubbers, our childhoods were marred in the dark ages of State athletics (Les Robinson Invitational, Mack Brown beating MOC like a drum, etc)...so the shit-talking from UNC friends/fans in the tender ages where our psyches were being molded was BRUTAL.

All that being said....fuck anything and everything that has to do with that faggoty, pansy blue institution. I hope the whole city gets hit by a meteor and never comes back. Fill it in with water and make a beautiful lake for me to piss in as I laugh like an evil villain.

It's amazing how many Duke "fans" are up in Philly & NJ. I see people wearing UNC stuff too, but overall I'd say there is a slight lean to Duke. I have met some State fans up here too. I will say this, every one of them had ties to either the city of Raleigh or the school. Not a big surprise, but still great to say. One of the managers at Fox & Hound in Center City Philadelphia is a State alum. So if you find yourself in Philly go there if you want to watch a State game.

Purvis and Randle made the final cut

Quote :
"Purvis, Sulaimon selected to National Team

Rodney Purvis and Rasheed Sulaimon, two future ACC rivals, will represent the United States together on the 2012 USA Men's U18 National Team.

Purvis, a North Carolina State University recruit from Raleigh's Upper Room Christian Academy, and Sulaimon, a Duke University recruit from Strake Jesuit College Prep in Houston, Texas, were selected to the team this weekend after participating in the Team USA training camp in Colorado.

The team will travel to Sao Sebastiáo do Paraiso, Brazil, this week to compete for the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. The tournament consists of eight teams – Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United States, and the United State Virgin Islands. The top four teams from the field advance ot the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship next year.

The roster for the U18 national team includes:

Nate Britt, Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.)
Sam Dekker, Sheboygan Lutheran (Sheboygan, Wis)
Shaq Goodwin, Southwest DeKalb (Decatur, Ga.)
Jerami Grant, DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.)
Montrezl Harrell, Hargrave Military Academy (Chatham, Va.)
Jake Layman, King Philip Regional (Wrentham, Mass.)
Rodney Purvis, Upper Room Christian (Raleigh, NC)
Julius Randle, Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas)
James Robinson, DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.)
Marcus Smart, Marcus (Flower Mount, Texas)
Jarnell Stokes, Southwind (Memphis, Tenn.)
Rasheed Sulaimon, Strake Jesuit College Prep (Houston, Texas)

University of Florida head coach Billy Donovan is serving as the head coach of the U18 team. Gonzaga's Mark Few and Virginia Commonwealth's Shaka Smart are assisting Donovan.

The U18 national team is 38-2 since 1990, when it began competing. In 2010, the USA U18 team won the Gold Medal over Brazil, 81-78.

Purvis and Sulaimon both participated in the 2011 HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational basketball tournament in Raleigh."

The more time Purvis spends with Randle, the better

Also, epic conflict of interest having this team coached by college coaches

Do they play in non-contact periods?!
