I started my mom a pandora bracelet back in 08 and she really loves it. It comes in handy when there's a holiday or birthday that I can't find something else to get her and I try to make sure thateach one is special, she has her Disney charms and her mommy charms and her ovarian cancer teal charms and so on.

While I know frye makes riding boots, I'm 99.5% positive this style is not one of their riding boots. 12/24/2012 11:14:46 PM |

...Frye does not make actual riding boots. They're riding inspired.
Ariat, On Course, Devon-Aire, Dublin, Mountain Horse, Ovation, Tredstep, Grand Prix all make english riding boots.
And pointed toes does not make a riding boot, unless you're talking cowboy boots, which I have no experience with. Lack of all that extra detail (no stupid buckles or anything to mar your saddle - aka, no inside zipper), a definite heel (no foot slipping out of/through the stirrup), and a tight freakin' fit if it's a tall boot (you need boot pulls to get them on) make a riding boot.

Well, my riding boots have a more pointed toe.
Mine have all that except a tight fit. I have to wear 2 pairs of socks. And the added detail of a slightly more pointed toe than the ones lk posted.

damn...thank you smcain
how is it so hard to believe that I know riding fashion (even if I don't ride)??? Too many styles are based off it for me not to know 12/24/2012 11:51:23 PM |
elise mainly potato 13090 Posts user info edit post |
I was told good riding boots have a slightly pointed toe to help with getting in the stirrups when I had to buy boots, so I always thought that was how they were made. I got what little training I have from a man that trained quarterhorses for shows and celebrations, though, not a serious rider. 12/24/2012 11:56:11 PM |
smcain All American 750 Posts user info edit post |
Yes, they are thinner in the foot than say workboots or Timberlands. But they're not necessarily pointed. Like, they're not as pointed as almond toes. I don't have a pair of my tall boots here in the house with me, otherwise I'd put them up to other shoes in the house (like some of my fashion boots)
Oh, and good tall boots will hit (after they are broken in/fall) right under the bend of your knee when you're sitting. And all proper riding boots have spur rests. 12/25/2012 12:06:29 AM |

That sounds right. I went to shelbyville to learn how to take care of the bosses horses not ride them, but I got a bit of training so I could help the girl that was riding them. The main thing I remember from the whole ordeal was having to lift up a newborn horse and pull it away from its mother because she kept stumbling and falling. That was gross. I had to throw away my clothes. 12/25/2012 12:16:05 AM |

I'm sure your boots were fine for the level of riding you did...smcain is talking competition level perfection

^^ Yup, Diva's right. If you're showing regularly is the only concern with having it hit on you properly. Just that your normal fashion riding boots are nowhere near that tall
Not a big deal in some circles or at some shows. 12/25/2012 2:43:42 AM |
