27th in QB rating is really good man. Right behind Chad Henne and other awesome QBs like Shaun Hill and Alex Smith. He may turn out to be good, but right now he's a bottom 10 QB.

Assuming there is a season next year and everything would play out normally (draft, fa), I'm pretty sure that the Jets have a lot of guys whose contracts are expiring. I think that this was their season to win the big one. But there is always next year, and hell at least your team was in contention for the SB.

The Jets still have young talent up and down the roster. Yes, a lot of the "chances" they took will be moving on they still have a roster that will compete for a long time to come and an inventive GM who will keep them competitive.

^^ It's frustrating but as a fan who vividly remember 3-13 and 1-15 in 1995 and 1996, it's hard for me to call this the worst night in the history of the team...

The funny part about this is that I'm convinced that you don't even believe that quoted portion above. Bottom 10 quarterback? Really? Really? If you actually believe that there are 22 starting quarterbacks in this league better than him, that might be the stupidest thing I've ever seen on this board, and that's saying a lot.

I didn't realize that the regular season was more important than playing your best football in the playoffs. Where does he rank in postseason QB rating again?

I tried explaining it to him when he was all over Matt Cassel's dick. I guess if we go by QB rating, he'd take Cassel over Brees, both Mannings, Matt Ryan, and others.

^^I agree, it's not the worst night in team history. The day they signed Rich Kotite may be up there, or when Vinny Testaverde ruptured his achilles are worse. People love playing for Rex Ryan, so they'll find players. I have a lot of confidence they'll make good moves in the offseason.

V Posted those 2 stats below 2 pages back, but that didn't matter to him then either. And you're right, he did bring them back today. I've been hoping to see Schottenheimer open up the playbook more for him to give him a chance to perform like he has in the postseason. But, that is Marty's boy, and you can't expect much from him. That's one change I'd like to see in the off-season.

Sanchez now has a postseason career QB rating of 92.2 good for fifth best of all time.

He's also tied for the most playoff road victories in NFL history.

The guy brought his team back from the dead today with some great throws in the 2nd half to keep drives alive and give his team a chance after they came out of the locker room down 3 touchdowns on the road against the Steeler defense.

All of this in his 2nd year in the league when he is still far from being polished or realizing the full potential of how good he can actually be. But yeah, he's a "bottom 10" quarterback

Probably going to regret sticking my nose in this, but Sanchez isn't a top 10 quarterback, and he isn't a bottom 10 quarterback. I will say this though, the players surrounding Sanchez are incredibly talented, his TE/WRS I would say are easily top 5 in the NFL, same goes for his backfield. The Jets offensive line is probably the best in the NFL, and if not the best there is no way that anybody can say they are outside the top 3 units in the league.

Getting back to Sanchez, he's still young, but I truly can't stand when people attribute the success of a team to a single player. I know that QB is considered the most important position but football is the ultimate team game, so people should take stats like Ribs has posted above (playoff road wins) and throw them by the wayside.

Did anyone notice the how horribley the Jets mannaged the clock in the 4th quarter? On that 17 play drive they had, they snapped the ball with under 5 to go on the play clock while the game clock was running at least a dozen times. When down two scores going into the 4th, you have to be more situational awareness than that. Snaping the ball just 10 seconds earlier on those plays would have saved 2 minutes of clock. That would have been huge considering how that drive ended with them still needing 2 scores.

I suppose one could say this was due to crowd noise, hostile environment ect. But watching the game it was obviouse that the Jets felt no sense of urgency in the fourth quarter. Hell, Rex Ryan showed no interest in saving clock until they still needed 2 touchdowns with under five minutes to play. The Jets have to know that the Steelers are going to burn clock while they have the ball and try and force them to do the same. Why not save time (and possibley possesions) where you can? If anything it keeps a few more pages of your playbook open, not to mention forcing the Steelers to run a more ball control, time consuming offense, which is easier to stop.

Maybe it would have made a difference, maybe not. We'll never know.

^^^^^Rivers sprained his MCL against the Titans in the 2007 regular season, but played thru the pain and led an amazing comeback in that game. He also finished out the season and led the Chargers to a playoff victory before tearing his ACL at the end of the game against the Colts. You cannot possibly compare Cutler's MCL sprain to a torn ACL. Nevertheless, Rivers played the next week a situation that just about any other player would've sat out.

Also, a bulk of the criticism of LT and Cutler is the way they sulked on the bench instead of helping and/or cheering the team on. Its petty, but team leaders are expected to act as such. Rivers was pacing the sideline like a madman at the end of that Colts game, even with his torn ACL. He even found the time to talk shit to Colts fans in the crowd .

Rivers said in an interview once that his daddy taught him from a young age that the most important part of being QB is proving you are a leader and if you can walk, you better be out on that field.

Yep. Goodell and the owners are desperate to show that they don't want a work stoppage. They are trying to prove that they have exhausted all other options so that they can declare an impasse, and then submit their own proposal as their "last best offer". At this point, they won't be locking the players out, but the players will have to decide for themselves whether they want to strike or accept a paycheck on the owners' terms.

At least, that's the owners' plan. The players would immediately file a lawsuit accusing the league of acting in bad faith if they tried to declare an impasse. That is where the court of public opinion comes in. Who is really trying to strike a deal, and who is being unreasonable? It's tough to say.
