Respect for Valvano extends way beyond what he did on the court.

And neither he nor Pearl are (were) really that dirty. Pearl's violation was minor, he was just an idiot and lied about it. Valvano was never found guilty of any major violations.

The thing about Valvano is 1. This is an NC State message board wtf do you expect and 2. He's 10x the coach and 10x the human being Pearl is.

I couldnt care less about picking on me as long as it still results in actual conversation and meaningful, logical, debate. NCAA sanctions are really the last thing we need right now...Bruce Pearl is a good coach, no doubt about that. But his decision making in the past (lying to the NCAA, etc) leads me to believe he's probably not the best fit here right now. Either way, I don't he's on Debbie Yow's radar right now. No insider info, but I just don't see her going after a guy who was just fired for NCAA violations...

^Good point. The NCAA wont hamstring it's own members for long periods. Usually it's the Universities themselves that cause most of the drop off.

You really think they are going to put us on 1 year probation for a repeat offender of NCAA rules? You are out of your damn mind. Seriously, there are plenty of available good mid-major coaches that we could get if we strike out with big name coaches. Do you really want to risk sanctions which will dump us in the gutter after a few good seasons that most likely will not end in a championship?

Also, I can't see Yow of all people going after Pearl.

No, more losing is the last thing we need right now.

Look at the big picture. Duke cheats their ass off in basketball (Maggette, Boozer, Duhon, where do you think Quinn Snyder learned it from?) and even when they get caught they dont get in trouble. UNC cheats their ass off in basketball and somehow they dont get caught even when specific incidents are in front of the NCAA (the BMW deal, Ellington, frank mcguire, etc).

Then UNC gets busted in an unprecedented football scandal and somehow nearly their entire coaching staff and athletics administration stays employed and we arent even sure they will face sanctions at this point. In fact their program seems stronger than ever if you base it on recruiting.



Who gives a fuck about a fucking BBQ when UNC is paying players, giving them BMWs, and winning?

So grow up means: Let's hire a known cheater that will get us sanctioned by the NCAA and drop us further in the dump than we are now, instead of getting one of the several good mid-major coaches that are available IF we strike out with all the clean (by NCAA standards) big name coaches.
