Well the thing about Sweden is that, while you might pay half your paycheck in taxes, you're spending half your paycheck or more on (most likely worse) health insurance, tuition bills, child care if you have kids, etc. in America anyway. Plus you have working public transportation, a guaranteed pension that isn't going to disappear like Social Security, shorter work year, etc. There are a lot of people that think it's worth the money up front not to have to worry about that stuff. As far as your discretionary income, unless you're extravagantly wealthy in the U.S., it's pretty much a wash.

I would take off for Scandinavia in a heartbeat if it weren't impossible to get a work visa there.

In America you lose atleast 25% of your paycheck and get shitty schools, shitty roads, a pointless war, shitty healthcare and no retirement.

In Sweden you pay 50% of your paycheck to get far superior schools, a low poverty rate, a higher quality of living for the general public, much better healthcare, a country that isn't broke, retirement, a less stressful life.

Seems to me that you may pay twice as much in taxes but you get 1000000000% more bang for your buck.

Two things that cant simultaneously exist in this country, a welfare state and open borders. Its not logical or mathematically possible. Try opening a restaurant and give free meals to every 9 out of 10 people that walk in, while still keeping prices low enough to ensure paying customers will still come in and pay. See how long you stay in business.

i've gotten one in under a month. only speaking of experience. but mine was a special request and was approved almost instantly. so yeh, i guess having to wait 3 months means you'll never make it to EU. but yeh. that definitely proves your intellectual superiority. i rest all my arguments about sweden being inferior to the USA. you won!!!!
