Looks like I'll be flying up to Boston some for my new job for the next 2ish months. Just signed up for the True Blue 7000 pt first flight bonus in addition to the Starwood platinum challenge. Really annoyed I just finished my last card though since I'll be spending about $2500 on the company's dime Sun-Wed.

You can essentially cash them out at 1 cent per point but with 50k I may try to use them elsewhere this time. 5/12/2015 4:36:22 PM |

Quote : | "50,000 Bonus ThankYou Points (My Value: $900)
ThankYou Points earned on the Citi Prestige® Card can be:
Used like cash for 1.33 cents off any flight Used like cash for 1.6 cents off any American Airlines or US Airways flights Transferred 1:1 to 11 types of airline miles I could easily spend all my points on American Airlines flights, but I usually get even better value by transferring my points to Singapore miles to book award flights to Europe, Hawaii, and South America.
Because of all these options, I value ThankYou Points at 1.8 cents each, making 50,000 worth $900 to me.
You’ll value the bonus points higher if: you transfer your ThankYou Points to miles and value the awards you book with your miles higher than I value mine. Do the math.
You’ll value the bonus points lower if: you use your points exclusively to book American Airlines flights (1.6 cents each) or other airline flights (1.33 cents each.)" |

I got a Chase Slate card to pay off some furniture we bought over 6-7 months. I believe it was 0% interest for 18 months with no transfer fee. Pretty sweet deal. Most other cards have a 3% transfer fee.5/13/2015 1:24:10 PM |

I'm too lazy to get the link, but discover it is running a double cash back promotion for 12 billing cycles. Existing card members are eligible; you just have to call in and ask for it. 10% off restaurants for the rest of the month. Next quarter is 10% home improvement, department stores and amazon. 6/3/2015 2:02:22 PM |

Some funny comments in there. Guy sounds depressing. Sleeps on planes, never actually sees the world just the airports and the occasional hotel.
Does however make me want to work for an airline and get standby. My buddy works for United and flies all over the world for free on standby. 7/22/2015 6:10:00 PM |

Yeah, I've started redoing them. Really just depends if you're looking for something specific. I think the "85,000 Points With the AMEX Hilton HHonors Surpass Card" is the only sign up offer out now that's higher than usual. 7/26/2015 11:21:53 PM |

That offer is pretty standard.
Called to cancel chase's British airways card before the annual fee came due but they said they'd give me 9000 more miles for $1500 spend. Seems like a pretty good deal since AA's short haul flights are only 4500 miles each.

Ok, yall, I just did my credit report and it shows a dismal 515. What would be a good start a rebuilding my credit? I've already payed off all my outstanding debt, with the exception of medical bills I owe on from years ago. The loan I have now is paid current. Are secured credit cards worth it or is that a waste? RattlerRyan All American 8660 Posts user info edit post |
Is the medical debt in collections? How many open lines of credit do you have? Do you have a significant other with good credit that you trust (and who trusts you)? If so, have them open a credit card and add you as an authorized user in the application. It will show up on your credit report just like it's your credit card and give a big boost to your score. Regardless, you should definitely get a couple of secured credit cards right now. As soon as you start getting offers in the mail for cards that don't have an annual fee (might take a couple of years), apply for them. Also, when you apply for cards do all your applications within a few days of each other and don't spread them out over time.
