I thought there were NCAA rules against "athletic dorms"? Recently this Kentucky basketball hotel/dorm complex has come up multiple times. Small, individual rooms, designed for tall players, with every amenity you could ask for. I am sure they shove a few grad students in there, but damn this sounds like about as close to the edge of breaking rules as you could get. I know we have the place on Western, but its huge and a ton of different groups of students, athletes, etc. stay there I thought.
Sounds like he enjoyed Ky. It seems like Cal uses Drake more than World Wide Wes these days. 10/3/2012 7:37:10 AM |

I think most agree Kentucky is the team to beat for his services. And he recently dispelled all the rumors about not wanting to play with other elite-level talent, so Gott is going to have to pull some magic out to make this one happen. But definitely glad we made the list over UNC/Duke. 10/3/2012 7:53:05 AM |

Avent Ferry Complex (AFC) and I'd venture to say the vast majority of residents are normal students. And this goes back at least 8 years. I believe at one point it was more of an athletes dorm, but that's at least more than a decade ago.
Now, there are still a lot of athletes there (or were in the last 10 years)... mostly soccer, volleyball, golf, and very few football players (freshmen mostly).10/3/2012 8:55:46 AM |

Sounds like we need an athlete dorm like Kentucky, though. That place is the shit 10/3/2012 9:04:07 AM |

Again, I thought "athlete dorms" were 100% and very publicly outlawed about a decade ago. It seems obvious that KY has special housing just for b-ball. Anyone know how they are skirting the rules. They must not care, because the administration, fans, and recruits talk about the place almost every chance they get.

This isn't referring to avent ferry, it's referring to the college inn. College inn isn't a dorm, it's a private apartment complex. And it's not any nicer than any non-athlete off campus apartments.10/3/2012 10:53:31 AM |

Bad assumption on my part if he's talking about College Inn. I thought the UK issue was an on campus dorm, thus I assumed he was talking about NCSU dorms; not apartment complexes. 10/3/2012 10:56:12 AM |

Yeah, well most football/basketball players have lived at the college inn since it opened. I would guess that all the scholarship freshmen have lived there since 2004.

saps852 was the first to mention it, IIRC. I believe it was referred to as a "bronco biscuit" before the CJL moniker took hold. CJL is preferable, as it started the whole discussion, sodium binge, etc.
here's my hIGhliGHts. I still don't think I ever recovered from that fateful day.

1. The cajun chicken/egg/cheese/country ham biscuit was all that I hoped it could be and more. 2. I decided rather than explaining this dream biscuit to the cashier, that I would just order the chicken filet biscuit combo (avec egg et cheese of course) and a separate country ham biscuit and combine manually. This may be the best route to go for two reasons: i. they could ring up the custom biscuit wrong, and/or ii. they may not place the country ham in your ideal layering order (e.g. mine is chicken/ham/egg/cheese). 3. The total came to $7.85, as I went with the regular sweet tea, rather than large. I was dining in as it were, and therefore would have access to refills as needed. If you order this meal to go, I strongly recommend the large sweet tea, as you will need all of it to wash down the week's worth of sodium you are about to ingest. 4. I decided to use a little mayo on the bottom biscuit half, and dip the whole thing in cajun hot sauce as I went. (side note: I also like to mix hot sauce in my ketchup to give it a kick with the seasoned fries. I'm not satisfied unless my food is also eating me.) 5. I don't feel so good, and I may need to leave work early.
Here's what she looks like:
