I haven't heard much about them tbh, but sounds like an impressive haul. Lots of time between now and 2014 though.

I knew they were supposed to be good, but i didn't think they would be committing this early. It's great to get the top North Carolina players. Maybe if we are seen in the future as the school that cares about getting the top homegrown talent it will pay dividends in the future when a top 5 player is from NC and chooses us over UNC. Hey it could happen. 10/10/2012 10:38:54 PM |

Great signing. They fill a need, since we aren't recruiting any small forwards in the class of '13.
We need a big to round out this year's class, but the future is looking bright. Signing Randle would position us to keep rolling even after Leslie, Brown, Howell and Wood leave. 10/11/2012 12:00:07 AM |

^yes. My point was that we don't even have any scholarship offers out to any of the remaining SF's in the class of '13. After Wood moves on, our only 3's will be Turner and Warren. Turner will fill in at SG, and Warren will probably have to play in the post at times. We needed to sign a wing or 2 for the '14 class, and we did. 10/11/2012 12:10:18 AM |

Word is that they were looking for a scholarship offer from UNC, but Roy tried to slow-play them. They obviously didn't appreciate getting jerked around.
Hopefully they use it as motivation every time they play against the Heels. 10/11/2012 12:42:48 AM |

i see inside carolina is continuing with the trend of "they werent good enough to play here anyway" or "they werent roy's top targets, so thats why they didnt get an offer"

Could be that this is just too early for UNC to have players like them commit, or maybe they liked them both but didn't want to take both together. 10/11/2012 6:21:53 AM |

^Either way it is possible that they could still be growing. I was still growing during my freshman year at State. 10/11/2012 8:00:56 AM |

Actually I really hope they are still growing. From what I read it sounded like they started out at guards and grew into SF's and are currently listed on some sites as 6'7". I'd LOVE to see them grow to 6'8"/6'9" and let them play some 4 if necessary.
I guess my only concern with taking these 2 guys this early, is that it might slow down Pinson. There were a lot of rumors that Pinson was considering committing this weekend. Really hoping that Gott can convince Pinson to play along with the twins.
Hoping Pinson can play some 2(6'5"/6'6" is gonna be tough to play the 3 in college/NBA) and allow us to maximize the talent on the floor. 10/11/2012 8:09:16 AM |
jbrick83 All American 23447 Posts user info edit post |
I think Pinson will be more of a 2 in college. These guys are definitely more SF and hopefully can grow into sharing some time at the 4. I think that's what Gott will sell Pinson at least. 10/11/2012 8:16:05 AM |

Yeah I think Pinson sizes up better to be 2 going forward in his career. And I really hope Gott can sell him on that. But what are the odds we still have Purvis when he gets here? I'm not sure how I feel about taking the twins if it costs us Pinson, but can't blame the coach for not slow playing the twins if he really liked their game.
Setting up roots and putting a fence around NC would be an amazing thing, tons of talent here each year. 10/11/2012 9:50:48 AM |

Hopefully we'll get to see some of the Harrow-Mays back court combination at their MM.
Back on topic: Looking at NC juniors, ESPN has them ranked: 1) SG Theo Pinson 2) PG Shelton Mitchell 3) Caleb 4) Cody 5) SG Che Bob 6) PF Isaac Copeland 7) PG JaQuel Richmond
All are 4* with Theo being the lone 5*. 10/11/2012 10:42:03 AM |
