my car had the trasnmitter monster cord you had to plug into the cig. lighter and then pic a station and then put your radio on that station to hear

Yeah, aux port makes that shit extremely simple. My old car had one, but it was on the back of the head unit, which made it so you needed to permanently install a cable.

i dont give a fuck and have a 35 foot male to male cable dangling from my dash to the little dip behind the gearshit.

usually balled up in the passenger floorboard

only b/c i randomly had a 35 foot 1/8" male to male hanging around, and i have no explaination as to why i would have such a long cord... but it's worked for almost 8 years for mp3 inputs.
