I saw a jet-black Veyron in a Bentley dealership in Chicago a couple weeks ago. Can't get the damn pictures off my phone, but basically if the glass of the window weren't there, I could have touched it. It. Was. Gorgeous.

^^^^what's post worthy about that? 130mph+ street races happen every day, and there's thousands upon thousands of "normal" cars roaming the streets that can hit 130mph effortlessly.

furthermore, why is this thread even still going? the veyron got punked out of its top speed record a long time ago (the whole reason behind this thread in the first place). by a lowly little pushrod american v8 i might add.

3. i don't complain about the threads you make or mind them for the mostpart, and in fact enjoy a few of them as i've said in the past. it's just some of the stupid crap you post in them. any time someone happens to bring up a new vehicle even off hand, here comes oep with 15 page hogging pictures, a dozen links to world car fans, and a pile of emoticons. this thread has served it's point, and needs to either die or become the top speed record thread. the only three things that have ever been restricted to a single thread here are carfax questions, classifieds, and videos. where's this big conspiracy again? since you've obviously forgotten, i was in your favor when you took so much heat for making too many threads and/or making them bandwidth killing sidescrollers. i supported some toning it down and combining things if possible, and you've done it. i can't speak for my butt buddies today though, that's only on wednesdays.

Just watched an episode of Top Gear. Don't know if it was old or new, but since I am in the UK currently, it was probably new.

They raced the Veyron against the Euro Fighter. But this wasn't your ordinary straight line car vs plane race like the dozens of others. Here is how it worked:

- Both started from the same point on a runway, which was also the finish line!
- Veyron had to drive 1 mile, turn around, and drive back to the starting/finishing line.
- The Euro Fighter of course started off horizontally, but then as soon as it could, it went vertical, flew one mile UP pretty much vertically, turned around, flew the mile down again vertically and then became horizontal just before hitting the ground and then crossed the starting/finishing line.

The Fighter won by about 2 seconds. That little dude Hammond drove it. When the Fighter became horizontal after coming down, Hammond was ahead of it (closer to the start/finish line), but of course the plane was flying too fast, so it won. Hammond reached 188 mph in 18 seconds off the start line (been clocked at 16.7 sec by some mag, and does 200 mph in 18.3 sec). On the return journey, he reached 196 mph. The Fighter seemed like it crossed the finish line at around 400 mph.

That was the most chilling car video I have ever seen.

Yes, 268 mph. In fact, it did 270 mph in one of the directions! (and 266 mph in the other) They were aiming for 264 mph!

Oh, and:

1,200 hp
1,106 lb-ft
And vastly improved handling over the 'base' model

I estimate it will cost $2 million, perhaps $2.25 million. They haven't said how many they will make, but I guess around 30-50. The first 5 will look just like the speed record car.

BTW, it is limited to 258 mph to protect the tires... those must be some tires!
