Look back at the beginning of this thread and look at what he has done for the team now when our starters have been struggling (compared to what they did in the beginning of the season). Evtimov obviously has lost his shot after the foot injury, so someone about his size needed to step up, even if that meant growing up and costing us while doing so. Good job, Gavin. Stop hatin on the guy. Now hope for the miracle in Dallas against Tex. 3/18/2006 5:31:47 PM |

We do have a young marcus melvin (plus twice the brain) sitting on the bench. Brandon Costner has that 3 ball and the height advantage to cause mismatches. (also is our only true allamerican freshman) Too bad he's on medical redshirt this year! 3/18/2006 5:51:51 PM |

We'll see. I personally think fells, grant, and ced will have better careers than costner. He doesnt look like the type who is athletic enough to be a great forward. 3/18/2006 5:58:23 PM |

Exactly. Melvin wasnt a great post player either, though he had the size to be just that. (Thus collins off the bench). He had that mismatch, "im stayin on the 3pt line all day and rebounding the long ones" type of thing going on and teams feared his shot and size. Same thing with Costner.... 3/18/2006 6:21:04 PM |

I remember Melvin during his freshmen year when he would come in for a few minutes and was pretty good in the post.
Then he became a 2guard. 3/18/2006 6:22:24 PM |
