Our OOC wasn't great, but at least we played a few teams...and we won most of them.

Alabama, GW, Notre Dame, Iowa (our loss). Not to mention we had an over .500 record in the ACC.

Herb didn't schedule a whole bunch of cupcakes.

i'm not saying we're bad, you are. but i'm guessing there'd be a lot less whining if a couple plays had gone different. it's so stupid to judge a coach's tenure on a bad slip at the end of the season. and don't say this always happens, because the exact opposite happened last year.

try every year for the past 5. but they're old and wise, so they can't remember our recent accomplishments. instead they remember when we went on a miracle run in 83 to win it all. they don't remember the 14 years after that, mostly shrouded in true mediocrity. they don't know about the hole nc state athletics was in before sendek. they don't remember him taking a team that went without a postseason for years prior to the NIT in his first 4 years, and then to the NCAA 2 years later, and again each year after that.

that's a lot of things to not remember. and then they top that off by bringing up individual games where we lose leads. how bout when we were down to wake by 16 at the half, and as many as 18 points and came back to win? i'm sure sendek had nothing to do with that though. that was just hodge and the rest of the team IGNORING his "mediocre" instructions. that's why we won then.

what about when we rallied to beat charlotte in the tournament last year?

for every time you name a single bad game we've had, there's a good one to go along with it. every team has ups and downs. if you limit your sample size to just us, unc, and duke then yeah, you're going to be disappointed. that's all there is to it.

Maryland

and they've happened every year. Every single one of these was pretty much an NCState meltdown and have happened during Herb's glory years.

maryland and vandy were results of horrific calls.

duke was because of jj fucking redick. nobody could have stopped that onslaught of 3's at the end of the game like that. nobody.

wisconsin was the worst of the bunch. we were coming off a huge emotional high. an incredible ending to a game that put us into the sweet 16. on top of that, we knew that a rematch with unc was looming in the elite 8 should we make it that far. we got outplayed that game.

so you're 1/4. keep trying.

Whoever said that Duke fans hated K, yeah, you're right, they hated him.


Then he went to the final 4 in like his 5th year or something (dont know exactly), but it did not take him a fucking decade to bring the program from crap to mediocre. He went from crap to really good in 5 years, and had a national championship within like 10 years.....after losing in the finals before that.

^^we lost a big lead, but we still could have won by 5-8 points. that foul they called on our bench gave them the ball and they immediately hit a 3 and gained more momentum. we shouldn't have given up the other 10-15 points of that lead, you're right about that. but that doesn't mean we deserve to have the remaining deficit awarded to maryland on a silver platter because of it.

and then the intentional foul in the vandy game. that was bullshit too.

You can hope and wish and pray for a National Championship every year, but there are 327 Division 1-A basketball schools and only ONE will win each year. The fact that NC State was picked among the top 65 means something! We will win it all. Just be patient.

There are certain elements of Wolfpack Nation that have forgotten patience. They EXPECT national titles every year in every sport. I hope for those things, don't get me wrong, but I am realistic because I have been an NC State fan for sooo long. I want to see our players cut down the nets in Indianapolis just as much as every other member of Wolfpack Nation. It takes a while to build back a program that was Less Robinson'ed to death....

Duke was ahead with under 2 minutes to go against fsu this year and lost. In the 2004 final four, duke was up 8 on uconn with under 4 minutes. Couldn't hit a shot the last 4 minutes and blew it. im sure you could find plenty of other examples with a team as good as Duke is. and for those of you that are saying ours always come at terrible times, i think the final 4 is a pretty terrible time.

anyone who cannot appreciate what herb has brought this program back from when he came here is just ridiculous. am i frustrated that they have lost a few games late??? yes. is it herb's fault that all of the shots that were falling earlier in the year are not going in right now??? NO! we still have a chance to have a really good tournament b/c slumps eventually end and it could start on friday.

There is no fucking shame in losing.

No one is upset that we LOST to UNC they are upset that we got dominated by UNC. To the point where you question if we had any clue there was a game that night.


People are pissed that the DOORMAT of the ACC just wiped the floor with us twice in a week.


If we went into this tournament as a 5 seed and beat the 12 and then lost 68-60 to Pittsburgh in a game where we REBOUNDED, took GOOD shots, played DEFENSE, and didnt PLAY Evtimov no one would be fucking pissed off and calling for Sendeks head.

There is a HUGE difference between losing and being beaten before you ever step foot on the court.

We are a lame duck team under Sendek.

"Doherty is fired for being an incompetent coach and a freaking asshole."- just after being named national coach of the year- so i want to fire someone who's 21-5 because i want to beat the people who fire the national coach of the year when he doesnt deliver.
I would like to get rid of herb but i still have gone to every home game he has coached never leaving early and suffered through the torture that is his offense and and basketball philosophy. (oh the hours of my life I have wasted?) I sat through countless Les Robinson games(ie losses) and I support the athletic association regularly- please dont question my loyalty to NC State.
If I was a recriut reading this, i dunno what id think, but if I was a recruit watching us play basketball id run the other way, in fact if I was Courntry Fells I might do like about a dozen players before him and transfer- only players herb has in the nba are transfers so he can't really claim them- we want to get rid of herb because the players and the fans deserve more for what they are putting into the program and providing herbert.
