you just don't let a coach that will keep you in the top 25 and in the ncaa tourny go, (especially after the shithole we were in before he got here) when there isn't a sure fire big time replacement on the board

Sendek Officially Meets w/ ASU AD:
http://www.azcentral.com/sports/asu/articles/0401asu01-ON.html
Quote : | " Norm Frauenheim The Arizona Republic Apr. 1, 2006 01:46 PM
Arizona State Athletic Director Lisa Love met with North Carolina State's Herb Sendek and talked to him about being ASU's next basketball coach, according to multiple sources at the Final Four in Indianapolis.
It was not known whether Love has offered a formal contract to Sendeck, who emerged Saturday morning as a surprise candidate for an ASU job that opened on March 10 with the announcement that Rob Evans would not be back for a ninth season in Tempe.
The meeting between Love and Sendek happened within the last couple of days and at an undisclosed location. ASU's sports information department said it does not know of Love's whereabouts. advertisement
Other than a prepared statement Thursday on the elimination of Rick Majerus as a candidate, Love has not commented on the nationwide search. She has been communicating with ASU through e-mail.
Meanwhile, Sendek is in Raleigh, N.C., according to sources in the same city.
Sendek, who coached North Carolina State to a fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance this year, is the latest name to emerge in ASU's lengthy hunt for an Evans successor. This week, Creighton's Dana Altman was mentioned as a possibility. Montana's Larry Krystkowiak also was mentioned this week. As of Friday, however, the Montana athletic director said ASU has not asked for permission to speak to Krystkowiak. " |

Woohoo! Maybe State can start to be competitive now.
For those who think that the fans have been on Herb's ass for 10 years are completely wrong. Herb was loved by the whole fanbase well into his 5th year (a losing year at that).
I am glad that the students have absolutely no say in any of this. A new coach is going to have to have a couple of years to get his own guys in here. Herb had 10 years to turn it around and now some of you herb hypocrites want to can the next guy after 1? Unbelievable. 4/1/2006 6:16:11 PM |

I'll be satisfied either way, because if we win 3 games next year, I can SAFELY say to myself in March 2007 that we wouldn't have made beyond the Sweet Sixteen (being generous here) anyway, and it'd be forgotten. 4/1/2006 6:56:39 PM |

what will we hear? that you "told us so"
that a first year coach, in a new place, with none of his recruits, and a brand new offense for those players still here was unsuccessful
because, that is a fool proof formula for success, coupled with the fact that the ACC is going to be 10 times better next year, you are right, this coach has to have more wins in his first year then Herbie ever did or else he is a failure at life, and might as well go kill himself
go fuck yourself, the fans want change, we want a new offense, we want a coach we can rally behind, and nothing any of you herb sympathists say is gonna change that....most of us are willing to go through some growing pains, just as we were willing to with herb, but the growing pains with the current coach are over and there is still no light at the end of the tunnel, so lets regroup....take some lumps if we have to and get this ship headed in the right direction!!!!

herb is avoiding the fall out that will come from our shitty 2006-7 season. we arent going to be any good under ANY coach. our players wont cut it. they are too young, too inexperienced -- we have ONE promising freshman. herb is gonna avoid a season of hell (hell from our shitty fans)
