well we were talking about it tonight, and she couldn't even remember if she'd seen past I and she still thought it was really good. I'm just not into any of the superhero movies in general...so maybe that's why I feel apathetic 6/24/2006 3:30:22 AM |

special effects are amazing and the movie looks spectacular, but the story/writting (though it's decent) isn't as great as you'd expect considering they had 150mins screen time. 6/25/2006 8:26:45 AM |

^^^ Are you going to see the full length version first? You know IMAX projectors can only run for two hours, you'll miss a half hour of the movie.

They have to. The bulbs burn like as hot as the sun and can only stand 2 hours of constant run time. And yeah I remember enjoying Episode II much better in IMAX with the wasteful stuff cut out. 6/26/2006 12:07:22 PM |

from what i understand their platters can only hold just over 2 hours worth of film. 6/26/2006 12:59:13 PM |

We can show movies a little over 2.5 hours long in the IMAX, so the only thing cut short in our version is the credits. We do have 4 scenes in the movie that are 3D, so there is absolutly no reason to watch it in a regular theatre unless you want to enjoy the ~10 minutes of scrolling names at the end of the film.
Quote : | "They have to. The bulbs burn like as hot as the sun and can only stand 2 hours of constant run time." |
Wrong. The bulbs run continuously and are not really all that hot (we only use an air cooled system). The reason they were originally cut short was because the equipment that holds the film while it is running was not big enough to hold more than 1 hour of film, so they split Star Wars in half with the first hour on one projector and the second half on another. Now we have an upgrade which allows us to show 2.5 hour 3D and 5 hour 2D films.

You did not see those films in IMAX because they were not released by IMAX. You might have seen a 70mm version, but I have not heard anything about those films being released in large format.

it might not have been the special IMAX 70mm film, i just meant that it was on an IMAX screen. it was in Dallas at a Cinemark... i saw a few other movies on the IMAX screen that probably weren't actually made for the IMAX screen (eg Tears of the Sun).6/26/2006 6:03:56 PM |

One of the best movies I have seen in a while. We just finished the technical screening at the IMAX (^hi Paul) and it was great. The movie on its own was amazing and the 3D only made it better. I can only hope that if they make any more Superman films they stick with this cast and crew. 6/27/2006 2:01:55 AM |

^Not that it will really hinder my enjoyment of the movie, but I've heard that Brandon Routh isn't that great when he's playing Clark Kent and actually has to act. Is this noticeable, or does he seem to do alright when he's not in the cape? 6/27/2006 2:36:35 AM |

i thought superman had a "protective forcefield" around him... that's why his clothes and stuff don't tear when he is shot or bombed or whatever. so his cape shouldn't shred right? 6/27/2006 9:39:42 AM |
Wraith All American 27257 Posts user info edit post |
^That and his cape is made from the material that he was wrapped in when he was found in the ship as a baby. The cape is of Kryptonian origin, therefore it is a lot stronger/tougher then regular materials.
btw, BEU why would you expect the movie to be believable? It is based off of a comic book. I don't see why you would expect a movie about an alien who looks exactly human, but can fly and shoot lasers from his eyes when he gets close enough to a yellow sun.

Well I would assume that since it's Supermans higher cellular density that makes him bulletproof, that the same would apply to his Kryptonian clothes. 6/27/2006 2:11:26 PM |

Now now guys you have it all wrong. His cape is red, that means that when it is powered by yellow sunlight, the cells are active. If he were in red sunlight, the cells would be dormant. Everyone knows that there is an inverse relationship between the cell colour and and sunlight colour. 6/27/2006 3:00:58 PM |
