Nah, this movie would have been a bit much for people who have never been exposed to Borat/Ali G before. You'd be in too much in a state of shock and awe to laugh half the time. It is definitly best for people who are already fans of Borat.

Apparently my friends enjoyed it, but all they would talk about was being disturbed by the hotel scene. They've obviously never been on here or 4chan Actually, they have, they just like playing up the "omg im too macho for a man's balls" thing.

I thought it was amazingly funny. KAZAKSTAN IS #1 EXPORTER OF POTASSIUM.

Quote :
"From today's Hollywood Reporter:

Uni wins 'Bruno' auction for $42.5 mil
By Borys Kit
Universal Pictures has won the intense bidding war for "Bruno," Sacha Baron Cohen's follow-up movie to "Borat."

Sources said that Universal is paying $42.5 million, beating out such other contenders as DreamWorks, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. Pictures for the worldwide rights to the film (HR 10/27). The price includes the production budget of the film, rumored to be in the $20 million-$25 million range. Also included is a significant backend component, believed to be the 15% range.

The price has raised eyebrows in Hollywood because Baron Cohen's much-hyped "Borat" has yet to open. Despite much advance praise for "Borat," distributor Fox scaled back its Friday opening to about 800 theaters because it is concerned that the movie wasn't registering high enough in audience-awareness tracking.

With "Bruno," Baron Cohen is calling upon another of his comic alter egos, Bruno, a gay fashionista from Austria who fancies himself as "the voice of Austrian youth TV" and who sashayed from New York Fashion Week to Miami nightclubs in his previous appearance on HBO's "Da Ali G Show,"on which Baron Cohen also first introduced Borat to American audiences.

As in the case of "Borat," Jay Roach would produce with Baron Cohen. No director is on board, though it has been reported that Baron Cohen wants to shoot the movie during the summer.

Endeavor, which reps Baron Cohen, declined comment, as did Universal."

I will agree I did certainly feel like I'd seen 1/3 of the movie already. Even commented to my wife about that when I was driving home afterwards.

Quite a few of the clips I saw were from Da Ali G show, but I knew in advance about the feminists, the drivers ed scene, the bear, Pamela, the dinner party, the humor coach, his house/sister/wif etc. etc. I was a little spoiled by that since I knew a lot of what happened once the scenes started. Wish I hadn't been inundated with trailers and been researching clips on YouTube now.

I was fucking shocked by the hotel scene though. Completely taken by surprise there. I'm sure we will get a lot more happy times on the Unrated DVD when that is released.

I really have a hard time believeing that much of that movie was real. I mean, there was definitely some improv, but I honestly think a lot of those scenes were staged if you pay close attention to the camerawork. But that's just my opinion

i think pamela ran too much for it to be real

and theres no way he would have wrestled her on the ground then chased her that far without getting tackled

saw it for the second time today...

i recall reading an article online about a year or so ago, about Sacha Baron Cohen crashing a party Pam Anderson was having with PETA... something like by the beach, he showed up unanounced by boat, and ran up to her and threw her in the ocean. Shocked everyone because no one knew who he was.

I have a feeling like that was part of the movie, but Pam didn't agree with it, so they decided to do this mock kidnapping for the film. Just an idea.

It was the best awkward silence EVER at mission valley last night when the gamecocks threw in that racist comment.

The theater had been howling nonstop up until then. Then utter silence for about 10 seconds.

Haha... try watching the movie IN Columbia, SC as a USC grad student. People clapped and cheered when it said "university of south carolina" but I got nervous as hell because I knew it wasn't going to be pretty. Then the entire theater went silent and stayed that way for a good 20 minutes. However, I do believe that there's just as good of a chance that NC State students (or numerous other schools in the South) would say something like that as USC students.

Any theories on how scripted/ unscripted that part was? It seems almost too "perfect" that the people who picked him up just happened to be USC Gamecocks students.

Thorsten was telling me he saw an interview with the college students and they were really nervous about the movie coming out because they didn't remember what they said or did.

it's also been mentioned about borat disrupting peta stuff with pamela.

i remember the news heading where borat was almost killed when he did the national anthem stunt at the rodeo. i think that most of these events were NOT staged, but just put together over time to build the storyline. i may be wrong, but i distinctly remember several news headings that never mentioned a movie and they played into the movie months and months later.

In the movie trailer, it shows Borat being part of a civil-war reenactment. That would've been hilarious to see. It must've gotten cut from the final?

i don't see why they'd take em out unless they were unfunny, the movie was only 84 minutes...

if you watch this movie a couple of times, you will pick up on a lot of the editing tricks.

for example.. when he is at the rodeo, giving his speech, you constantly hear cheers, but if you look at the crowd in the background, no one is cheering, though you hear it.

just a thought.

bout to watch it for my third time

question about the rodeo, if this is real, which by all accounts seems to be the case, whats the deal with the horse falling in the background? i just cant see that really happening with that perfect timing.

That has to be staged, along with the whole Pam Anderson bit. No way in hell he doesn't get taken out by big ole body guards when he starts getting creepy.

I liked the movie a lot, but I noticed some of the editing tricks too.

i don't think as much of this is staged as you think...google borat on a news site and look at all the events that aren't tied to his show that led to this movie being made
