I just hated Holden. No sympathizing for some faggot kid who just wants to beat up some hypocrites. Everyone's a hypocrite in some respect, so it seems rather futile.

If there's something better than futility to describe the teenage male's experience, I haven't heard it.

I don't go around saying it's my favorite book, mainly because I'm not fifteen, but I think it's good.

Yes, I suppose you're right. Though never having been a teenage boy during/before reading the book may have been a handicap in that sense.
