I suggest you inform yourself before making silly statements such as this. Ever actually looked into the requirements for getting a concealed carry license?

They're sufficiently stringent that quite a lot of police would actually fail.

One thing I don't think anyone mentioned yet....Is it possible these psychos target schools because they know the odds of being taken out quickly by an armed citizen are lower there due to restrictions on carrying a firearm?

I dunno about that so much as the fact that they know there will be lots of people sardine-canned into confined spaces. (Think Beslan.)

As for school shootings in general, it probably has a lot to do with the fact that these people's lives center around their schools.

There haven't been a whole lot of "adult goes to a school and starts massacring kids" type incidents.

I do believe that such shenanigans would die off Real Quick™ if we got rid of the dumbassed "gun free zone" laws, or (this is probably too extreme) went to the Israeli mode of school security.

That dumbass kid on the MG42 (MG3?) made me cringe. Even if it's on a tripod/pintle, you're still supposed to lean into the stock.

Geez, spraying bullets around like that...

"Gunman holds hostages at Colorado school

By CHASE SQUIRES, Associated Press Writer
35 minutes ago

BAILEY, Colo. - A gunman walked into the high school in this mountain town Wednesday, fired at least two shots and took six people hostage, authorities said. Hundreds of students were evacuated in a scene that recalled the horror at Columbine just a short drive away.

There were no immediate reports of injuries. Four hostages were released, but two girls remained inside the Platte Canyon High School more than three hours after the gunman arrived, said Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County sheriff.

The gunman was believed to be an adult. Kelley did not release his name or identify the hostages, but said the girls were believed to be unharmed.

Authorities sent a bomb squad and SWAT team to the high school.

The evacuation of the high school and a nearby middle school came after a loud noise, said Jan Howard, a secretary to the superintendent of schools.

"I don't know what the noise was," she said. She said students were taken to a safe location, but predicted parents would not be able to immediately reach them because the only highway in and out of town had been shut down.

Jefferson County authorities are all too familiar with school attacks: The sheriff's office handled the 1999 attack at Columbine High School in which two students killed 13 people before taking their own lives.

"I'm just terrified. I'm terrified," said Sherry Husen, whose son plays on the high school football team and was told not to return to school from his part-time job. "I know so many kids in that school."

Parents pressed authorities for details but had little information on their children.

Bill Twyford said he received a text message from his 15-year-old son, Billy, a student at the high school, at about 11:30 a.m. It said: "Hey there, there's a gun hijacking in school right now. I'm fine, bad situation though."

Twyford said he had not heard from his son since then and was not sure if he was among the hostages.

Students from the two evacuated schools were taken to an elementary school for a head count. Ambulances were parked in the end zone of the school's football field.

Michael Owens, who has one son at the middle school and another in the high school, said the anxiety was worse because of the memory of Columbine.

"It's like an earthquake," he said.

Tom Mauser, whose son Daniel was among the students slain at Columbine, said: "Any adult who holds kids hostage is reprehensible."

The schools are in a narrow, winding canyon carved by the South Platte River about 35 miles southwest of Denver. They have an enrollment of about 770 students, with 460 in the high school.

Husen's family moved to Bailey from suburban Denver about 14 years ago.

"We moved up here for the mountain solitude, and I just never thought this would happen in this school, but it happens everywhere," she said.

Other schools in the area were put in lockdown, meaning students would not be allowed to leave until administrators determined it was safe.

I guess if he had just used a bomb or a knife, that would be a happy story? Is that what you're getting at?

Or are you really claiming that the gun forced this guy to do it?

I'm claming that once again another gun in a "no guns allowed zone" killed someone

so why not let trained responsible citizens have a chance to protect themselves

We let people drive ANYWHERE as long as they pass a quiz and can drive like a 16 year old. They don't even have to pass a background check.

It's a differnet subject, but there should be greater restrictions on who we allow to drive in this country as well.

Even still that doesn't change the main point which is we allow driving anywhere for people with a license, why couldn't guns be licensed as such as well?

it is too easy to get a drivers license, thats why so many people die in car accidents doing stupid shit

we should make it harder to get a drivers license, not herald it as an example of how to license other deadly things

Not really, no one NEEDS to drive, it just makes things a hell of a lot more convenient. Furthermore, if we had a good public transport system, only some people would truly need to drive.

Except cops and bod guards and the military right?

Agreed that it needs to be harder to get a license and there needs to be better enforcement of the laws, but my point is that it's not like if you get a drivers license you can only drive in one state on certain roads and not near any government buildings or bars.

You can drive anywhere where it is not explicitly listed that you can not drive.

Quote :
"also its not a right"

Which is partly my point. Bearing arms is a right yet it is more restricted than driving a car which is not a right.

What is not a right either?

It's different in methodology. Anywhere you can't drive, someone is making a decision for that specific location that you can not drive there, and puts up a notice to that effect, much like a private property owner listing on their door that no weapons are allowed. This is distinctly different from a blanket ban on general areas (i.e. no guns where there are large crowds, no guns on educational property).

Why we should be able to have guns on campus:

So that when some sick fuck decides to start opening up on random people, the good guys can take him out.

Why the fuck would someone go shoot up a bunch of Amish?!
