I saw the Iron Man trailer before watching Rambo this weekend--it had a few more scenes than what I've seen on the Web. I am now concerned that some of the graphics looked a little too much like a video game.

I can see them doing a significant speed up here. He makes the clunky suit with what is available to him while imprisoned. He then makes himself a snazzy suit with the best material money can buy once he gets home. < 5 minutes.

I liked War Machine till he got played out. Better when Tony wore the suit.

Although this may only be true in the Ultimate Marvel universe, the general idea is that Tony Stark has an inoperable brain tumor, and he knows he's going to die soon. Since Stark also has no family and no one to pass on his fortune to, he has no qualms spending lots and lots of money on the Iron man project, and putting himself in danger every day.

Also, if you want to follow Orson Scott Card's origin story in Ultimate Iron Man, Stark is super smart because his entire body is covered in cranial nerve tissue. So, he has enough brain power to negotiate a complex business alliance while fighting terrorists who are trying to blow up New York. This would explain how he was able to focus so much time working on the suit while building a business empire.

^^^ Um. . .he's changing the sound of his voice. Bruce Wayne would need to do this so people--people that know him and others that hear him on TV, radio, Internet, and so on--could not easily recognize his voice and figure out that he's Batman.

This is an example of the difference between a serious interpretation of the Batman mythos and a comic or campy one.

BTW, Iron Man doesn't need to alter his voice--since it's altered by the suit's speaker system. FYI.

Yeah at first glance you might think this.

But then you see what DC did with Superman/Clark Kent and realized there was no way they put that much thought into it.

Batman > Iron Man.
Tony Stark, as a human, flawed character, has always been great. He's sold lots of comic books on being Tony Stark. But Iron Man? Name his major nemesis. Now. Quick, quick, quick, can't do it, can you?
He has ZERO interesting villains. He, like Captain America, was only interesting to me when they were teamed up with the Avengers. But, as a stand-alone character, I read for Tony Stark, not Iron Man.
