Drury was admiring his pass while coming across the middle in the offensive zone. He was an immediate part of the play and an immediate threat to score if the puck had returned. Kaberle was circling in his own zone and was most likely about to change, and Colaiacovo already had the puck and was moving it up when the hit. They're two completely different situations. I won't argue that the Drury hit wasn't late, because it was, but it was also relevant to the game situation. Janssen was simply headhunting. 3/4/2007 9:17:01 PM |

in other news, sid wins another game today in the shootout
and radim vrbata beat gerber twice in regulation and then again to win it in OT
"I know Gerber from Carolina," Vrbata said. "I wasn't sure he'd remember that shot. He didn't."

This is going to be terrible for the NHL IMO

i really doubt they'll move
and i really hope they won't
basically the government has screwed the pens at every opportunity possible for some reason, but i think that there will be molotov cocktails thrown at the local and state politicians if it really looks like they'll leave, plus a very angry and tiny gary bettman

if anyone on here still watches hockey, what do you think about that one 3/9/2007 12:23:38 AM |

There's a precedent for those. McSorley and Boulerice both got suspended for the rest of the season if I remember correctly. 3/9/2007 12:29:04 AM |

Pittsburgh saved
Quote : | "The Penguins reached a deal on financing for a new arena that will keep the NHL team in Pittsburgh. The agreement - with city, county and state officials - was announced by Gov. Ed Rendell on Tuesday at the Pennsylvania Gaming Congress. "This afternoon I am traveling to Pittsburgh, where we will announce that all three government entities have agreed to keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh for the next 30 years," Rendell said Tuesday." |
Great news for the league IMO. The Penguins going to Kansas City at this point would be a disaster.3/13/2007 9:42:35 AM |

Anyone been following this Jeff Cowan bra throwing thing? It looks like throwing a bra onto the ice is quickly becoming the Vancouver equivalent of the Detroit octopus.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZzw8xNrIuk
It started with Cowan scoring a goal against the Lightning, then getting into a fight near the end of a game. A fan threw her bra onto the ice.
Here is a video from tonight's HNiC After Hours with Canucks GM Dave Nonis getting hit with a bra http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2BRRsMB1Xg 3/18/2007 1:51:05 AM |

Just when you thought the Detroit Red Wings actually wouldn't win the President's Trophy for once, they've moved into the overall points lead for the first time this season. Setting up nicely for another first round exit at the hands of a Northwest team. 4/1/2007 11:38:37 PM |

So jersey fired their head coach.
Any Devils fans that keep closer track of 'em have a clue why they would do this heading into the playoffs as a 2 or 4 seed? 4/2/2007 3:19:43 PM |

Hmm. Just read about the Devils firing. Not sure what to make of it nor who they might pick up for the post season. I don't like how they just barely beat the worst team in the NHL the other night 3-2 but at least they are still ahead of Pittsburgh. 4/7/2007 7:07:32 PM |

Jersey and the Isles today at 3:30. If the Isles win, they're in the playoffs in 8th, and if they lose, they're out in 10th. The Leafs are in 8th now after beating Montreal 6-5 last night, but everything rides on the NYI/NJD game. The only thing Jersey has to lose is guaranteed home ice to San Jose (and possibly Vancouver) if they happen to get to the Cup finals, so Brodeur might not even play. It's a nervewracking day to be an Isles fan, but even more nervewracking to be a Leaf fan. 4/8/2007 5:57:38 AM |

Watch highlights of this Devils-Isles game later. Devils score the tying goal with 0.9 seconds remaining. Isles win a shootout to knock out Toronto.
I got the Sabres to win, and after that, I'll go out on a limb and say Canucks.
My projected winners in bold.
1) Buffalo Sabres vs. 8) New York Islanders 2) New Jersey Devils vs. 7) Tampa Bay Lightning 3) Atlanta Thrashers vs. 6) New York Rangers 4) Ottawa Senators vs. 5) Pittsburgh Penguins
1) Detroit Red Wings vs. 8)Calgary Flames 2) Anaheim Ducks vs. 7) Minnesota Wild 3) Vancouver Canucks vs. 6) Dallas Stars 4) Nashville Predators vs. 5) San Jose Sharks 4/8/2007 6:23:23 PM |
