thats similar to the Democrats' message/stance
They have no idea what they want to do but they definitely want it to not have any association to the Bush administration11/2/2006 1:00:51 PM |

^^that's true if you don't actually read/listen to what dems have said and you get your info about candidates' platforms from TWW and 24 hr infotainment channels. 11/2/2006 1:09:25 PM |

^^In other words the dems have a message but they aren't capable of getting the word out.

^Also keep in mind Congressional Democrats are severely limited in what they can put forward with the Republicans controlling both houses, the committees, and the rules. I agree that they could be much better at expressing themselves, but there isn't much they could actually DO. Even proposals that have the support of a majority of Congress aren't going anywhere if they don't have a majority of the Republican caucus.
Also kudos to Kerry for keeping this goof-up alive for 3 news-cycles.
Day 1: Stupid statement Day 2: Stupid explanation for stupid statement Day 3: Apologizes for stupid statement
Of course, this could end up hurting Republicans as well if they keep whining about this.

^^i think most of it is that dems are clumped into one group, when the views and platforms are fairly disparate across that group. if people cared enough to learn about their particular representatives, then this wouldn't be a problem.
unfortunately most don't want to actually learn about the people they vote for. 11/2/2006 1:53:06 PM |

I've stayed out of this and watched Kerry implode--when your opponent is committing suicide, you don't help him. But as a veteran, I was offended by Kerry's comment. He should apologize again on camera--sans the numerous American flags in the background.
And Kerry hasn't done his party any favors just days before an election. As I heard one Democrat strategist say, and I'm paraphrasing, John Kerry doesn't hold a major chairmanship in the Senate, and I think most Democrats would be happy to see him just go away. Indeed. 11/3/2006 1:43:14 PM |
